Sakuratei — Local services in Yufu

We stayed here for one night and had dinner bed and breakfast. We travelled with our two young children and two friends who had a separate room. My friend who is Japanese booked the hotel for us before we arrived in the country.||||The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and the surrounding area is very lovely too. A welcome break from the business of Tokyo and Kyoto, although the tourist shopping street was reasonably busy.||||When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a number of very friendly staff in the car park who carried our bags across a small road to the hotel. The reception staff were quick to check us in. We were lucky to have my friend who translated a lot of the information for us. We were taken to our room which was like a small individual villa. Beautiful footpaths led to the room with various water features, trees and plants, making it for pretty. ||||The room itself was spacious and clean. It had two sections, a sleeping area and living area separated by a sliding door. We are provided with yakuta for both ourselves and the children and slippers to although they were a little small for our large Western feet. There was a flat screen TV and large wardrobe space. We were told that we would have our beds made up for us whilst we were at dinner which was a nice touch. There was a tea making set and a small wrapped cake/sweet treat to try. The sink area was large and there was a fridge below the bench with minbar. This led on to the beauties outdoor area which could also be seen from the living area. A large, beautiful hot springs bath, space enough for myself and the two kids. This was very private and had beautiful surroundings which can be seen in my pictures. Very relaxing. There was a hose with cold water provided to cool it down as it was remarkably hot to start off. Very relaxing and tranquil.||||There is also a communal baths in the hotel. We were able to reserve one privately for the whole family. This is a lot larger than the one attached to the hotel room and again very pretty and relaxing with a large changing area.||||Dinner was in a private booth with a phone to call for service if you needed. The staff were so attentive that we didn't really need to use this. My 5 year old was given a children's meal but my 7 year old wasn't as she was a paying guest. We requested some children's food for her and they were happy to oblige. A huge selection of traditional Japanese food was on offer with something for everyones taste. Breakfast was in the same place and again very traditional.||||After dinner we took our reservation in the private bath and then went back to our room where the futons had been set out. Very comfortable I have to say. The room had air-conditioning too which made for a good nights sleep.||||As when we left the staff helped us out of the hotel with our bags and even took a picture of us outside as a group. ||||Be aware that the hotel do not accept credit cards so either pre-pay or...

My wife and I stayed in Sakuratei for 2 nights in October 2014. We booked the B&B through Rakuten Japanese website which offered a slightly cheaper package compared with other western hotel booking website. Well, you may need some translations when booking through Rakuten website. ||I would like to share with you my experience on the following areas:||||Price||We looked for Inn's providing individual and private Onsen (hot spring pool). We've checked the average prices for similar Inn is around 40000 - 60000 yen per night (incl dinner and breakfast). But, our booking through Rakuten was just around 30000 yen + tax per night. It's really an attractive offer.||||Transportation:||The B&B Inn is located relatively far from railway station and the main street. Open car parking in front of the Inn is free of charge. Since we had hired a car, transportation is not a problem for us.||||Accommodation:||The room is a traditional Japanese style room. The highlight is the private Onsen (outdoor but surrounded) attached to each room where you can enjoy hot spring around the clock privately.||There are two larger private Onsen (outdoor and indoor) you can use at a first come first serve basis. Their staff will make up the bed (Japanese styled bed) for you when you have dinner. My wife and I enjoyed very much with the Onsen. It was an excellent experience. (note: We did not stay in other Inns in Yufu. So, this is really a first impression from us.) ||||Food||Dinner and breakfast are served in a separate room near the lobby. You'll have private time with your family.
