This ryokan did not sponsor me, and my review is based on my own experience. Before choosing this place, I read numerous reviews, both good and bad. Ultimately, I decided to book it due to its price and location. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter the issues that others have mentioned.
Below is my personal opinion after staying one night at this ryokan. Cleanliness: The entire ryokan is spotlessly clean, providing a very pleasant and comfortable environment throughout the stay.
Room Quality: The view from my room was absolutely fantastic. The room's facilities were excellent, and the provided snacks were delicious. Each room has a private toilet, which adds to the convenience. Although one of the balcony lights in my room was broken, the staff responded enthusiastically and quickly resolved the issue, leaving me very satisfied with their service.
Onsen: The ryokan has two public onsens (one for men and one for women, located in the basement) and a private onsen on the first floor near the reception area, which requires a reservation. The onsens were wonderful and relaxing. However, I wasn’t sure if any of the available creams or lotions were meant for after-onsen skincare, as the labels were only in Korean and Japanese. Adding English translations for these products would be a helpful improvement. (Minus a little due to the lack of English labels on the creams/lotions in the Onsen rooms).
Food: The food served for dinner and breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. At first, the portion sizes seemed small, but they were perfectly satisfying. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and flavorful, adding to the overall dining experience. I also heard that guests can refill rice if they want, which is a nice touch!
Location: The ryokan is located on a hill, which can be tricky for drivers due to multiple routes. I suggest asking the staff for the easiest way. For public transport travelers, a convenient shuttle bus service is available. I personally saw this in action. Parking is also provided.
Staff: The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Their excellent service greatly enhanced the overall experience and left a lasting positive impression.
In addition, the hotel provides yukata, allowing guests to choose their preferred...
Read moreWe visited on 13 October, 2015 and sent the email to reserve the hotel shuttle bus to pick us up at the Yufuin station at 15.00 p.m.||||We had been waiting for the bus until 15.15 p.m. there was nothing but the other hotel shuttle kept coming to the station and asked us if we were their guest.||||The information staff at the station offered to call to the hotel for us because we tried to use public phone at the station but it seemed didn't work at all.||||Finally the hotel said the shuttle driver was sick and unable to come to work, just call taxi and the Hotel would pay for it. However we were satisfied with that and said thank you to the yufuin information staff.||||We were on the taxi for 6 mins from the station and found that the hotel is on the hill surrounding with empty houses without any feel of animal living.||||How could we go to the city? ....||||The korean staff showed up and assisted us to the front counter with smooth and warm welcome. They also upgraded us to the next catagory room type and informed us the dinner will start at 6 p.m. and we can book the private hotel onsen after had dinner. we booked at 8 p.m. ||||The room comes with one japanese style and western style next door and private onsen with mountain view. the air-con remote was hardly set because there's only japanese language on its. but later we asked the staff how to change to heater and air-con.||||Private public onsen was quite spacious and excellent. I would recommend to all of you :)||||The breakfast also was good and the hotel called the taxi to the station either.||||We will come back again, lovely hotel with lovely staffs.||||Thanks to korean receptionist and korean staff at the restaurant also the aunty she is wonderful and helpful.||||I got many pics of this hotel anyone wants to have some before make a decision can inbox me. and if you think my review is helpful pls...
Read moreThe two of us stayed at ryokan Reimei at the end of March and we booked the reimei room with an open bath. We had the best experience ever. We could go in for a dip whenever we felt like it. The shower is on the outside with the open bath and the coldness of the weather wasn’t a problem for us since the water of the shower was quite warm and you jump into the onsen right after… (I see lots of comments complaining about that). Dinner/breakfast service time and shuttle bus leaving time was chosen at checkin, we could choose between the times that were convenient for us. There’s a number that you can call to get a pick up service from the station public phone. We had no trouble with that and the driver was super nice. Also staff speaks Japanese and English, so it was very easy to communicate. We even saw a cute Shiba that lives close to the ryokan. The dinner and breakfast were not true kaiseki but it was still delicious and fulfilling. We also brought some pudding from downtown before going to our ryokan and I definitely recommend doing that as there’s no dessert component in the dinner kaiseki. This is not our first ryokan and having an open air bath definitely made the experience 10000 times better!!! We will definitely choose the same room again if we’re coming...
