Tips for the marvelous experience!
We spent 7 hours walking in this incredible park and it wasn’t enough to see all of this beauty! Ancient site with lots of history.
Quick tips:
If you want to have a picture from the top with the Treasury in the background, pay 10-15$ per person max!! No more!! The local guys will help you with that, you won’t be able to do it on your own!
There are no shortcuts! Do not believe the locals who are trying to take money from you for that. You will spend more time ans energy with these shortcuts.
From the beginning of the walk they offer the ride on the horse that is included in your tickets. HOWEVER, they want you to tip them afterwards. We never used them tbh, cause the animals look really sad and they have the marks all over their bodies
If you would like to help some kids, they would love to get some sweets/...

Petra has also been referred to as the “Rose City” because of the color of the stones used in its buildings. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage...
Read moreThe walk into Petra is unbelievable! The technology that people used long ago is prevalent and easily seen especially the water systems. The main sites are cool too. I recommend a tour guide hired near the visitor center. Our guide did tell us that some animals were abused so we made the conscious decision to not ride any of them. The one thing that bugged me was the amount of vendors and people trying to get me to buy something. Simply say no, and they will leave you alone. Do not say “maybe later!” They will follow you if you do. Bring lots of water as the walk is long in both directions. The main area is very busy. Ask another tourist to take your picture. Anyone else including children will be looking for payment. Definitely visit but use caution with the animals...
