I was really impressed by the willingness to help by the manager and the staff of Petra moon and Petra icon hotel.
We made a reservation online for a guest house at Petra based on the online reviews. But after arriving there we realized that it was not a place we wanted to stay at. We made the reservation based on the ratings on google but we didn’t consider the number of reviews while making the reservation at a guest house (there were only 8 reviews). It was our mistake and we learned a lesson.
At around 8.30 pm the day we arrived at Petra, we started looking for a hotel to stay at. I was stressed because we have a 4 year son and I was worried about getting a clean place to stay at. Fortunately we stopped at Petra icon and the manager was able to help us to get accommodation at Petra moon hotel that night. They were able to provide us accommodation for 3 nights (2 nights at Petra Moon and 1 night at Petra Icon). Entire staff of the hotel helped to remove the stress from our visit to Petra. We loved the care and hospitality of the entire hotel staff. They also recommended us the shorter route to get to the monastery. We are animal lovers and we didn’t want to use the donkey or horse rides to get to the monastery, instead we chose to use the child carrier on our back. I don’t think we would have made it to the monastery without the recommended route from the hotel staff.
I highly recommend Petra moon and Petra icon hotels. Both hotels are about 3-4 mins walk from the Petra visitor center and so you don’t have to worry about the parking if you have rented a car. They also pack you a to go breakfast in case you are planning to leave early in the morning to...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Petra. As everyone else has pointed out it is very close to the entrance of Petra itself, although once through this entrance you have to walk/ride at least 2km to get to the main part of the site.
Breakfast was mediocre, omelettes and pancakes ok though. Syrup and other toppings were all value range. Pastries etc very dry too. We had the buffet dinner on the first night too, but didn't repeat this. Only a few more JD for the buffet in the Movenpick next door and streets ahead in terms of quality.
All power in room turns off when you take key card out (and it's a smart one so you can't fool it with another card unless it's a bank card with chip and pin). Lots of lime scale on the shower head, no plug for the bath and the main tap/shower head dripped unless you put it in a very specific place. No tv channels seemed to work either and although we brought this up with reception no-one came to sort it.
Wifi was 10JD for the three days although this was only for one device and it felt like you were always logging in. It stopped working after 2 days, but we were quickly supplied with a new login which worked fine.
Despite it being winter the pool was still open although it's not heated. Rooftop terrace was nice if a little breezy and I'm sure this is really nice in the summer.
Overall it was fairly good value but whilst they cover a lot of the added extras like bathrobe and slippers, free soft drinks that you might expect in a much fancier hotel, it still feels like it is lacking some...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this place. It's located very close to the Visitor Center and entrance to Petra, which is really convenient after a long day walking.
After spending a whole day in Petra in the sun, there is nothing better than cleaning your dusty shoes at the entrance of the hotel thanks to a shoe cleaning machine and jumping into the hotel's swimming! That's unbeatable!
The rooms are super comfy, silent and they even offer slippers and a bath robe (perfect for the swimming pool or after a shower). Free valet parking also included.
The staff is amazingly nice, professional and friendly. They helped us with the Petra By Night Tickets and, above all, the breakfast they serve is incredibly tasty and offers plenty of options. I am a vegetarian and my husband is a celiac: they even baked for him gluten-free bread and encouraged him to take some slices so that wage could eat during the day.
We would choose this hotel over and over again and we really encourage everyone to experience Petra enjoying Petra Moon Hotel. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, such as "My Mum's recipe", where they serve gluten-free bread as well and...
