I had a fantastic stay at Mövenpick Petra Resort and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Petra!
We arrived late at night (around 11 PM) after a long day touring Wadi Rum, and the warm welcome from the staff immediately lifted our spirits. The refreshing welcome drink was a perfect touch after hours of traveling.
Before our trip, I emailed the hotel about my husband’s birthday, hoping for a little surprise. While the receptionist revealed the room decoration during check-in (oops!), I still deeply appreciated the effort they put into making our stay special. They even offered to send a birthday cake at our convenience—when it arrived the next day, it was a beautifully presented, heart-shaped strawberry cake that tasted amazing!
Location
The hotel is in an amazing location, directly opposite the Petra entrance. It was incredibly convenient, just a short walk away—perfect for exploring Petra without any hassle.
Architecture & Design
The hotel’s exterior was nice, but the interior truly amazed me. Stunning arches, textured tiles, beautiful light fixtures, and a high-ceiling courtyard created a breathtaking atmosphere. The balconies and windows overlooking the atrium made it even more charming.
Room & Comfort
Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed. The best part? The bed—it was incredibly comfortable, and we slept like babies throughout our three-night stay.
Exceptional Staff
A huge shoutout to the amazing staff who made our experience unforgettable! They were genuinely warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Special thanks to: • F&B team: Fouad, Mouad, Cassandra, Assel, Ziad, Mohammad, Ahmad, Amani • Housekeeping: Ismail (supervisor) and another kind staff member (whose name we, unfortunately, missed) who helped with our luggage and even sang a birthday song when we entered the decorated room!
The hospitality was outstanding, and we truly appreciated everyone who went out of their way to make our stay special—sorry if we missed out any names!
Spa Experience
I treated myself to the hammam package at the spa, and it was an absolute delight. Lou, an Indonesian therapist, did an incredible job with the scrub, hot steam bath, and massage—I felt completely rejuvenated afterward.
Food & Dining
We enjoyed every meal at the hotel’s buffet. LITERALLY had our breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. The variety and quality were excellent, and everything was so delicious that we didn’t feel the need to eat elsewhere.
Extra Perks
One of my favorite touches was the free chocolate party in the courtyard every evening, paired with local tea—a lovely way to wind down.
Final Thoughts
I only have one regret—I didn’t stay longer! This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way, and I can’t wait to return for a longer stay. If you’re visiting Petra, this is the place to be!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Highly...

Our family stay at Mövenpick Petra was absolutely amazing, hands down one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had anywhere in the world!
The location is unbeatable literally steps away from the entrance to Petra, but what truly made this trip special was the warmth, care and genuine hospitality from the entire team.
From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we felt welcomed. Mr. Ahmed greeted us so kindly — a true gentleman! He gave us invaluable tips for exploring Petra with the kids and made sure we were completely set for our adventure. He really is a top guy — professional, warm and always ready to help.
We were delighted with a beautiful room upgrade and it made all the difference. The suite was spacious and elegant — perfect for our family — and we loved the special touches of welcome treats and thoughtful amenities. After coming back from dinner on both days, we were pleasantly surprised to see the room had been refreshed again as part of their evening turndown service — beds prepped, lights set, everything spotless. These little details didn’t go unnoticed.
Dinner at the Al Ghadeer rooftop was a highlight — delicious food, stunning views, and a peaceful, family-friendly setting. Our kids loved the food just as much as we did (which says a lot!). Breakfast in the mornings was another treat, so much variety, with fresh juices, eggs made to order, fruit, pancakes, waffles - truly something for everyone. Mohammad H. was outstanding at breakfast, so attentive, friendly, and quick to make sure everyone (including the kids) had exactly what they wanted.
A special mention to Anas K., who was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Always with a smile, always one step ahead, he made our stay even smoother and more enjoyable.
What stood out most was how beautifully the staff treated our children — with genuine kindness and attention. They were constantly smiling, and felt truly welcomed. Marwan was an absolute gem — he even went downstairs just to get them ice cream one evening, which made their night! It’s the kind of thoughtful gesture that meant so much to them (and us!).
The overall service, from front desk to housekeeping to restaurant teams, was flawless. The hotel has a boutique charm, but operates with five-star precision. Hats off to the management — it’s clear the team takes immense pride in what they do.
Thank you, Mövenpick Petra, for such a memorable and heartwarming stay. We can’t...
Read moreA generally pleasant stay overshadowed by one very disappointing incident
We recently stayed at Mövenpick Petra for 3 nights and overall, we were quite satisfied with the experience — the location is excellent and most of the staff were courteous and helpful. However, I would like to share a particular incident that significantly affected our stay.
One morning after breakfast, we returned to our room to find it filled with an extremely strong smell of paint thinner or chemical fumes. The smell was so overpowering that it made it difficult for me to breathe — which was especially alarming because I am currently pregnant. Deeply concerned about the possible impact on my health and my baby’s, we immediately called reception.
An engineer (Mr. Ismail S.) was sent to our room. When he arrived, he simply asked us to open the windows and explained that the smell came from renovation work being done on the fourth floor. He did not offer any further solutions.
As the smell remained unbearable, we decided to leave the room and head to the pool area. On the way out, we ran into Mr. Ismail again and asked if he thought the smell would be gone in an hour. His response was dismissive and unprofessional — he leaned against the wall, rolled his eyes, and gave us a careless “OK” without addressing the question. When I asked him again more clearly, he repeated that we should talk to reception if we wanted to move rooms, which was not the point of my question. I was not trying to demand a room change; I simply wanted to know when the air would be safe again.
The attitude he showed made me feel like I was a nuisance rather than a guest in a five-star hotel. Eventually, another staff member Mr. Yahya arrived and handled the situation much more professionally and kindly, which I truly appreciated. Mr. Ahmad A. at reception was also very helpful in arranging a room change for us quickly and with empathy.
Still, I feel it’s important to raise this because: There seemed to be no precautionary system in place to prevent toxic fumes from affecting guest rooms during renovations. The response from Mr. Ismail S. was completely unprofessional and dismissive, which is unacceptable in a hotel of this standard.
This single incident really detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and ensure better staff training and safety protocols in the future — especially for vulnerable guests like...
