This was the worst dining experience we have ever had. We came back from Petra in the afternoon for a drink, we were initially pleased with the service and decided to come back for diner. Reading up the reviews I realized that there was an happy hour that we were not made aware of. Our waiter graciously offered my wife another glass of wine in exchange for a good review on Trip Advisor. Turned out the glass of wine was probably on their happy hour. For dinner, we had basically no service. We had to catch the attention of waiters every single time, from getting their menu to ordering drinks and food. We ordered two beef fillet steak only to received one fillet and flank steak. At that point I already asked for the manager who then apologized for the absolute lack of service and returned my plate to offer me their best beef fillet steak. They obviously rushed the kitchen and my steak was raw inside. Also, I didn’t appreciate that I didn’t receive what was specified on the menu and if I didn’t know the difference between a flank and a fillet, it would have gone unnoticed. The manager tried to make things better by offering us an additional round of drinks and took 20% off our bill but at this point there was coming back. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and shouldn’t have accepted additional patrons that they could not...
Read moreThe Cave Bar at Petra Guest House Hotel is truly a unique experience and a must-visit if you’re in Petra. Built into an actual Nabataean cave, the setting alone makes it worth stopping by. It’s a one-of-a-kind atmosphere where history meets comfort, and sitting inside feels both authentic and relaxing.
One of the things that stood out to me is that this is the only place in the area where you can find local alcoholic beer—or really any beer at all. That made it a perfect spot to unwind after a long day exploring the ancient city. The staff were very attentive and friendly, always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.
We also tried some food here, and it was surprisingly good for a bar setting—fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. It paired perfectly with the drinks, and the overall vibe of the place really added to the experience.
Whether you’re staying at the Petra Guest House or just looking for a memorable spot to relax after visiting Petra, I highly recommend the Cave Bar. The combination of history, atmosphere, good food, and excellent service makes it...
Read moreThis is by far the worst bar experience I have ever had! I went in after a long day exploring the beautiful ruins of Petra to enjoy a cold beer in a Nabatean tomb. The bar was completely empty when I showed up; not hard to understand after being in there for 5 minutes. I ordered a beer and the wrong beer was poured which I kindly reminded the manager who was working the bar of the mistake and he said it would not be a problem, the next one would be on the house (probably because this was during happy hour and it is buy one get one free). I ordered my second beer before 4 and when I went up to pay around 4:30 was told happy hour had ended. The same manager you poured me the first beer told me there was nothing he could do to honor the happy hour price nor did he conveniently remember that the told me second would be on the house. I later discovered happy hour ended at 5 so this place will lie to you through their teeth just to make some money. I ended up paying close to 25 dollars for 2 beers and would urge anyone else thinking about having a drink here to...
