We accidentally popped in Rashid's restaurant, but I can tell that was the best choice. Not only were the whole staff very nice, but the food was exceptionally delicious. We akways try traditional food and the lentil soup was a perfect starter after the long walk in Petra. My husband had a lamb dish - the Tagen with lamb - and he was amazed. Me being a vegetarian, was absolutely pleased to find one of my favourites, the Mousaka, on offer. It was the most delicious I've ever had. Congratulations on the chef's job, and we really appreciated that all the food was prepared freshly in the open kitchen, still we didn't have to wait long . I found this place to be much higher priced than those up the hill and not any better quality. I ate here twice. The first time was so so. The second time the owner was clearly offended when I said no thanks to a drink that costs 5 times more than the supermarket next door. He then gave me a shawarma filled with a second pita bread inside and a little sauce with a few pieces of small meat to hide the deception. Quite a greedy trick. He asked me how it was and I told him I was aware of his trick. His reply was"it's a sandwich am I supposed to put a whole chicken inside". I had shawarmas at other restaurants nearby and outside of Petra yet never had that problem...

Absolutely the best meal that we had while visiting Jordan! And, it’s only a two minute walk from the entrance to Petra. The local food here is both authentic and delicious. I had the Lamb mansef, which was absolutely amazing! The lamb was so tender it fell off the bone, and the yogurt sauce was smooth and full of flavor. The portions were larger than expected, so be prepared for a big meal. Service was very good and the owner came to check on us several times. Also, they were very thoughtful in preparing two special local vegetarian dishes for my wife, which was greatly appreciated! I would highly recommend this authentic local restaurant when you are...
