Solid grocery store carrying food that a lot of foreigners probably like.
For example items harder to find in Malaysia but considered desirable by foreigners include:
Organic Oatmeal (I bought some from Finland) Sea Salt Numerous kinds of Haagan Daaz ice cream Kerrygold (yes totally serious) cheddar cheese and butter Philadelphia branded cream cheese Avocados Kiwis Organic pasta Alcohol Non-sugary peanut butter (you go around Malaysia and then come back and tell me non sugar peanut butter is common. It isnt)
The price for these items isn't cheap. Expect to pay dearly. For example, the bag of organic Oatmeal I got was 13 ringgit. Fresh cherries were 21 ringgit. Western foreigners will gladly eat the cost (and the produce) because the currency conversion is probably so favorable.
The store lacks fresh bread, but I think it's a Malaysian thing. The bread put on the shelves was very obviously a few days old. Malaysia doesn't really focus on good bread like Europe does, and I found it hard to find a decent loaf.
However, pastries are aplenty if that's your thing. I noticed they had curry puffs, egg tarts and such and such, it wasn't the biggest selection ever, but it was what was expected in that specific country.
All in all I liked this store but I will be back. It had the kinds of foods I wanted, and I was willing to pay the high prices. Service was what was expected out if Malaysia. They don't kowtow to customers like in the west, and that's just find by me. I prefer a society where people don't destroy themselves emotionally by trying to...

In addition, as a customer, when I ask questions, where is the most basic respect and etiquette? It didn't even tell me which specific place that the stock at, how can I find it??
Furthermore, I hope Ta Kiong Supermarket in The Spring mall can review the attitude of your employees.
In the end, I was very disappointed with this shopping experience. If there is still no improvement next time and the questions I asked are not solved, then I think there is no need to come back...
Read moreTa Kiong (大强) has been operating in The Spring Mall since the mall first opened, and it remains there until today. The supermarket offers a wide variety of groceries, imported foods, fresh produce, frozen items, and liquor products. The decor looks nice, and all the products are well-arranged and neatly categorized. The gondolas are quite tall, giving the store a spacious feel. I especially like the liquor section, its decor gives off a premium vibe when you walk in. Although Ta Kiong has a more premium look compared to other supermarkets, its prices are not really higher, as most items still follow the general...
