On 1st March (initial): While I typically refrain from airing grievances, I must express our profound disappointment with our experience last Saturday. We organized a back-to-school shopping spree for the children from a shelter home and aimed to treat them to a pleasant meal. However, we were met with subpar service, including tardiness, delayed delivery of essential items like tomato sauce, and last-minute changes to menu items.
Most disheartening was the quality and value of the food itself. We anticipated a more satisfying meal, but instead received dry and uninspired dishes lacking in flavor and appeal. The absence of accompanying sauces or any effort to enhance the dishes was particularly disappointing, especially considering the price point of RM20 per head. We had hoped for a more enjoyable dining experience from Picha, but were sorely let down.
Furthermore, the burden of setup fell primarily on the wardens of the shelter, with minimal assistance provided by the staff. This lack of support was especially disheartening, as we aimed to provide the children with a memorable and uplifting experience, which unfortunately was marred by the underwhelming food quality.
In light of our experience, I encourage others to exercise caution and perhaps explore alternative dining options. It pains me to say that our expectations were not met, and we ultimately had to resort to ordering pizza for the children instead. Truly, this was a disappointing...
Read moreWhen the Govt of Malaysia extended the initial 2 weeks lockdown due to Covid-19, my husband and I felt very strongly about supporting local businesses. We try to (within our means) order take-out, shop at local grocers (not the big-chain ones) and buy direct from the farmers at Cameron Highlands.
Picha Eats’s story touched us and we placed our order even though we were pretty certain that we won’t like the food, haha! We are just not the adventurous type where food is concerned. We tend to stick to our same old chinese and western cuisine. Why order then? We wanted to be a part of Pichaeats’ “rebuilds lives.”
Ordering was simple and straightforward. Their customer service was articulate, prompt and professional in answering all my questions. They even went out of their way to cater to my “quirky needs.”
Delivery was done within the time promised. What impressed me the most was their thoughtfulness in packing their food. They used extra-tight containers for gravy and sauces, glad-wrapped the containers (for stews) to minimise spillages etc.
How was the food? We ordered Mona’s Palestinian Set. We didn’t know what to expect but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We were kind of shocked to be honest. It was different from the usual food that we normally consume but it tasted wholesome and was actually delicious!! This was our first order which was on 9th April 2020. Oh ... we ordered brownies and rum baba. They were sooooo good, hit all the right spots!
We loved our first experience so much that we ordered again on 14th April 2020. This time we ordered drug rice and lamb stew. Super yummy delicious!! And for desserts, we ordered lemon poppyseed cake on top of brownies and rum baba. For my family; brownies, lemon poppyseed cake and rum baba are must haves in our my fridge especially with the lockdown and social distancing @$&’no%#.
We placed our third order .... not going to reveal what we ordered. Go, hop over to their website now and start ordering! You are missing out...
Read moreDo you feel bored eating the same thing near your office? Want something different? If you do, check out the ready-to-heat meals from @picha.in.minutes . They offer meals freshly made, which you can chill and just reheat for lunch. The meals can be reheated with a microwave, oven or steamer. These meals are prepared by chefs from the refugee community. They come from Syria, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq & Pakistan, hoping to start a brand new life here. This means the meals originated from these countries, which is something different from the usual Malaysia food. I love this idea of helping the refugee community and get to eat delicious food too. Everyone’s gotta eat, right? I enjoyed every meal and my colleagues have commented how fragrant the meals were. I opted for the vege menu, which has falafel & buttermilk sauce with brown rice, tofu in tomato gravy with brown rice and beans chili con vege with tortilla. The meals are offered in packages of 3, 6 or 9. There is vege and non-vege options. Though more options for the latter. The vege menu only comes in 3s. They also change their menu monthly,...
