The BIFE Charcoal Steakhouse is located at shop lot 1-5 on Level 1 inside THE LINC located at 360 Jalan 50400 Kuala Lumpur.
After watching on YouTube several raved reviews posted by patrons over the last 3 years about BIFE Charcoal Steakhouse, my family of four decided to have dinner at the restaurant last Friday, 19 January 2024.
We decided to have the Dinner Buffet which costs RM99.90 ++ per person. According to the flyer posted at the restaurant entrance, the following will be served:
Rump Cap / Picanha – Medium rare and perfectly grilled. Garlic Beef – Not served. Garlic Lamb instead. Too much garlic. Garlicky taste overwhelming the lamb. BBQ Cheese Beef – Not served. Turkey Meat Loaf – Not served. Lamb Shoulder – Not served. Artisanal Sausages – Not served. Chicken Wings – Not served. Chicken drumettes instead. Nicely grilled. Sirloin – Medium rare and perfectly grilled. BBQ Squid – Soft and juicy. Perfectly grilled. Herb Fish – A bit dry due to over grilled. Prawns – A bit dry probably from being too long sitting on the grill. Glazed Pineapple – Too much of cinnamon glazed over. Overwhelming taste of cinnamon than pineapple.
On the counter was a widespread buffet of various hot dishes, cold dishes, salads, ice cream and desserts – creamy soup (mushrooms, chicken bits and corn), a bowl of tossed mixed salad (sauce already added), spaghetti and sauce (cannot make out what it was), boiled rice (slightly salted), sago and chocolate shavings in coconut milk, 2 out of 6 choices of ice-cream (the other 4 slots empty). And 2 choices of sauces for the steak.
Unfortunately, none of the food were labeled. That kept us guessing what dishes they were exactly.
My humble opinion – What BIFE Charcoal Steakhouse used to be raved about in past reviews, now seems and appears to be a thing of the past. The BIFE Charcoal Steakhouse that I went to dine on Friday 19 January 2024, was really a BIG let down in terms of food offerings, presentation and, in particular, value for money (food served definitely did not match the RM99.90++ Dinner Buffet price tag).
I have no complaints on the adequate food served on the counter as the meats are the star of the restaurant. But when the number of food brought to the table were only half of what were promised, something is just not right on the running and the management of the restaurant.
Being scammed was the feeling my family had when we left the restaurant. Unless, big changes are done, we are definitely not going...
Read moreWent on 6pm for dinner. There was only 3-4 table occupied at the time and not busy at all since 2 tables took buffet package. The round our table to bring all the meats once for each types. Then most of them standing doing nothing. They didnt give us the coin like they usually do. So we have to call then to ask for refill. Even when our plate looks empty. They didn’t ask if we want anything else.
Around 7.30 they were looking busy preparing table outside. The free flow dishes which we supposed to get it by ourselves, they put it on bowl nicely to serve to the table outside. We asked for meats but it tooks way longer that we have to asked twice for it.
We were getting annoyed. We were the only table occupied at the time but the staff ignored us and prepared for something else. We sat by the door to the tables outside.
The other customers came and sit outside. The meats keeps on flowing non-stop to then. Mind you, we sat just by that door looking at them. They don’t offer it to us at all!! Are we not a paying customer?
My friend asked why we weren’t offered anything since you guys keep bringing the meats to the tables outside. Then the staff told the chef and the offer us meat while apologies. He said usually we have to ask if we want more meat. Only then, after hours sitting there, they gave us the freaking coin.
It’s not our first time eating in this kind of restaurant. Most of the time we dont have to ask they will keep bringing it to us. This time, we did ask and ask twice for them to actually bring the meats out.
I actually heard the staff called the customers datin. so, i guess they were vip. That’s not fair to us as customers. We paid as well. If you wanna attend you precious vip. Better close the restaurant and make a private...
Read moreWent for ifthar just now. Not having good experience with the way they served the skewers. Not sure if they're not well prepared for ifthar (which shouldn't be case since it's almost end of Ramadhan already - 22nd Ramadhan) OR it's their way to cut the budget by letting the customer go for the foods on the table first, instead of straight away serving the skewers before azan/breaking fast time.
I called the waiters a few times to get what we wanted, but they're busy serving the vip at the time (if not mistaken, their boss). We had to wait until my friend even give up and went back earlier than the rest of us.
The NP was RM89+ for dinner, but it's RM119+ during Ramadhan buffet. The price a bit higher than normal days, however, i don't even get the chance to try a few skewers (stated in the menu) such as, sausage, pineapple, squid,n turkey ham. It's either they didn't served it, or it's because their bad time management to serve us till we get to try everything on the menu. Plus, the chicken seems like not fresh and almost smelly, same goes to satay which not properly cooked. The free drinks especially the asam boi one taste like chlorine water. I'd say, i'm not getting the promised service (in this case, not able to taste the listed food in the menu). Overall, the food was good, it's just the service wasn't.
Had better experience with bife at citta mall branch (during lunch before ramadhan). Enjoyed the food n the waiter keep walking around n asking each of the table if we...
