Lousy Genting Management/staff to handle the ‘Awana cable car issue due to technical problem which happened at 23/12/2024 nite’! There is no announcement and proper arrangement for visitor who had just spent their happy time and prepared to take the cable car frm Genting Highland to GPO. Everyone was so confused! Visitors were waiting long Q infront of Padini shop. There was no staff showing exactly the correct route from KFC to the another GohTong Jaya cable car. As we have 2 eldery with us who can’t stand long in the Q, we need to spent extra money Rm6 to upgrade the ‘normal ticket’ to ‘Express ticket’ in order to escape the long Q (estimated waiting time 2hours for normal ticket) . After we reached the GohTong Jaya station, we only see 2 staff handle the cable car. All of us were left clueless on how to find our way to get the shuttle bus as the whole building look like a haunted building in the absence of proper lighting and direction signage. It was even worst to see tonne of people standing beside roadside outside the GohTong Jaya building just to wait for the arrival of shuttle bus.Again, there were no Genting staff arranging the Q for shuttle bus! Really lousy arrangement!!!! By right, more shuttle bus are required to cater the number of cable car users coming down from Genting Highland! And more and more staff were needed on the spot to direct and make sure all people Q properly during the arrival of shuttle bus. Everybody were pushing and rushing getting into the shuttle bus after seeing the arrival of shuttle bus. The scenario was so Bad! In the end, we decide to spent extra Rm10 each to get a grab from GohTongJaya cable car station to GPO after waiting for 30minutes as we don’t know how long more we need to wait for our turn to get into the shuttle bus as everyone also want to go back early. It was around 11pm that time. Supposingly, we only need to spent RM9 for the cable car ticket from Genting Highland to GPO.But in the end, we have spent RM9+6+10=Rm25 instead ! It was a nightmare experience. Why we need to pay more and wasting our times because of this cable car issue? So disappointed.... Genting Management, please set up a special team and arrange more staff and more backup shuttle bus to tackle this issue...

However, the ticketing process needs serious improvement. When we arrived at the Premium Outlets, there were no clear signs directing us to the ticket counter. We eventually found it, only to discover that the cash counters were closed, and tickets could only be purchased through vending machines—which require a credit or debit card. This makes it difficult for travelers who rely on cash.
We managed to buy a round-trip ticket for RM 19, but there was very little guidance about how the cable car system works, or where each stop leads. For example, there’s a stop at the Chin Swee Cave Temple, which looks beautiful—but again, no signs or instructions on how to explore the temple area.
One thing that felt out of place: a man took our photo without asking and later tried to sell it to us for RM 100 with a frame—which is way overpriced for a printed photo. That kind of experience might leave a bad impression on tourists.
Overall, while the cable car ride itself is enjoyable and offers great views, the management should improve signage, ticketing options, and visitor information. The cable car is clearly a key attraction and revenue generator, but if the user experience isn’t improved, it may start to...
Read moreIt’s now end of March 2023, roughly 3 years after the start of Covid. Right now we know that the vaccines won’t help as promised, we know that the safest way to get immune is to go through the disease and we know -proofed by 100s of international studies- that masks won’t work. Still, Awana SkyWay insists on people wearing them. Yes, you’ve read right, in end of March 2023!
The cable cars are made by Leitner, a very popular Austrian cable car manufacturer and everywhere is a normal airflow coming in to the cabin via the built in vents. So, even if you are afraid of a virus that can have a mortality rate of less than 0.3% among 60+ years old, it’s very unlikely to catch it in this cabin.
Furthermore, the wearing of masks will increase your body’s CO2-Level which is very unhealthy.
I highly advise you to not take the cable car, unless they’ve stopped with this overthrown, harmful policy. Your money and where you’re spending it can make a huge difference.
Fun fact: This January, I’ve been up at Genting Resorts as well - nobody cared about me not wearing a mask on this particular cable car!
One more thing: As a German, I know very well through our own history how mindless obedience can lead to devastating results. That’s how the Germans started 2 world wars, lost both and millions of people died. It’s the worst part of all of this: Obedience to rules that won’t...
