In a summary, this trip is a complete, unabashed scam. If you're sold this trip by someone saying it has "bottomless drinks, an unlimited buffet, and exciting excursions," you're being lied to.
When you enter Puerto Magico, you have your picture taken as well as before you board the catamaran; which costs two hundred pesos to buy each photograph. Everyone also has to pay an additional, undisclosed port fee.
Onboard the catamaran, seating is made up of almost a hundred plastic lawn chairs placed right beside another, making for an uncomfortable two and a half hour journey, not to mention the slow pitching of the boat in the swell which caused multiple people to get seasick.
Our breakfast was scrambled eggs and chilaquiles, which was satisfactory, but far from "unlimited," similar story with the lunch (burgers and potato chips) served a whole six hours later. Don't worry if you get hungry between breakfast and lunch, you can always buy snacks onboard for fifty pesos, which is incredible because of the promised "unlimited food."
Snorkelling was boring and not worth the time it took to travel out to the islands, especially since we did it for about fifteen minutes. Afterword, we were dropped off at a beach which was interesting to walk around and look in all the little caves.
Our final activity was kayaking and paddleboarding, where we were only allowed to stay right beside the boat, not exactly fun, because the paddle I was handled was poorly fixed and broke in half as soon as I tried to row.
Next, guests could choose if they wanted to go for an "eco-tour" which cost an additional twelve hundred pesos. Unimpressed by the experience this far, we decided to sit it out, which was boring because the staff would not serve alcohol until we were underway, so we had to sit and wait in the hot sun for an hour and a half doing nothing.
On the way back the drinks were mediocre but at least bottomless. Before getting into port, the crew went around with bottles requesting tips with a suggestive two hundred peso bill in the bottom. It was fairly deceptive, as they held the bottle inches from your face making you obligated to tip.
Crew had really bad management skills, didn't balance people on either side of the boat so it developed a small list with everyone on one side. Also, for the second half of the trip after the snorkelling, we had no life jackets near us, which was incredibly unsafe.
In the end, a final cherry on top was the captain smoking the dock upon arrival, nothing serious just an amusing summary...
Read moreThis was a complete waste of our time!! We felt that we were totally taken advantage of! First off we were promised breakfast buffet and lunch. Just to find out that it’s one plate of breakfast and one plate for lunch! Breakfast was on the boat and consisted of 2 small cold pancakes with 5 small pieces of cantaloupe and papaya and a spoonful of yogurt or the option of 1/4 scrambled eggs and 1 cup chilaquiles! For lunch you had the option to choose between some items. We chose the fish “which was a very small piece with beans and lettuce!” Besides not being a buffet we had to pay for the drinks, which ended up being $900 pesos for regular non-alcoholic drinks, which we had to purchase since there were no other options other than swallowing your food and not having anything to drink! The snorkeling part consisted of jumping off the boat into filthy water and not being able to see anything when snorkeling for about 30 minutes. Oh and they really want to take your pictures when snorkeling so they can charge you about $800 pesos (depending on how rich you look that’s about how much they’ll charge)! We ended up paying $600 pesos per person to take the horses up to a waterfall hoping to get a better experience from the tour, we should have opted into staying by the beach! The waterfall was dry and they took us to a restaurant where we either consumed to sit by the shade or if we didn’t we got to sit by the sun! On the way back there was a boat "party" that was all about getting drunk at an open bar with beer and cocktails and dancing half naked to the loud music. My kids were mortified and just tired of the horrible tour we were having! I do not recommend this tour for kids! The boat ride was very long both ways, it was sailing at the very slow speed! Bathroom was filthy since there was only one bathroom for men and one for women. There were about 100 people on the tour. We had to arrive at the marina at 9:15 am and ended up leaving at 10:00 am and got back at 8:00 pm. Overall I do not recommend this tour, and will definitely stay away from...
Read moreWe purchased what was supposed to be a snorkeling and sightseeing tour with 2 destinations included - Yelapa and Majahuitas. Majahuitas advertised as an "untouched beach with emerald waters and abundant marine life perfect for snorkeling...". We never landed on Majahuitas Beach but instead were dumped off the boat somewhere along the coast, in murky cold water with poor visibility and high surf. That lasted about 30 minutes and then we were taken to Yelapa, with no activities held there but a cheap lunch at a joint right on the shore and maybe an hour of beach time on our own. No walk through town or anything else. Before landing in Yelapa, a crew member was trying to sell us another activity while in Yelapa - an ATV or horseback ride, but I don't know how it would've been possible even if we wanted, because our total time in Yelapa was roughly 1.5 hours including lunch. Breakfast in the morning was on the boat and consisted of a single pancake with some fruits and a spoon of yogurt. On the way back there was a boat "party" that was all about getting drunk at an open bar with cheap beer and cocktails and dancing half naked to the loud, mostly Mexican music, which seemed like the highlight of the trip for a big group of elderly Mexican tourists. They really went all out, kudos to them but not my type of fun. The boat ride was very long both ways, it was sailing at the very slow speed - not sure if to save fuel or just to kill time. Overall - a total sham of a tour and a waste of time and money. A day earlier we took another tour with a different company - Vallarta Adventures, which seemed like a lot better quality and I highly recommend them vs...
