Very strong service nice clean restaurant, Bar and bathrooms. Have lived in Puerto Vallarta area for about 5 years... was in the mood for a steak and decided to finally try Outback. Once we arrived we were seated quickly and warm bead was dropped off at the table although not that fresh or maybe reheated too long. We nt straight to the steaks on the menu.... wow... time for a change in plans! Cheapest steak on the menu was about 700.00 pesos and the really good ones were over 1000.00 and up to almost 2000.00 pesos. Plus sides drinks etc. I was surprised by the prices this is Outback. There are some very fancy restaurants in the area with lower prices for quality Steaks. If this was a special occasion I likely would have stepped up but not to celebrate Monday afternoon! So ordered the Chicken fried Chicken. The protein was well cooked. The corn 🌽 on the cob was so cold it wouldn't melt butter. Once returned to the table by polite waiter it was over microwaved to the point it was inedible. Stuffed baked potatoes was tasty although also a bit on the cool side butter melted cheese notso much.
Lesson learned if you are after a steak, assuming a good one (based on my experience in the USA) this may be a good place to go for a casual special occasion but that said there are some 5 star places here with ocean views that are in a very similar...
Read moreI never write negative reviews, but the food from this Outback was so bad I feel inclined to voice my opinion. I ordered the sonora ribeye, cooked medium, and was given a steak so chewy and undercooked that it would hardly cut with a knife.
Which by the way was not included in my order when I specifically asked for utensils in the order notes. I am staying at a hotel and had to borrow utensils from the hotel restaurant. Seriously, no utensils at all in a takeout order when specifically asked for?
The clam chowder itself was decent but came in a stale, dry breadbowl that tasted like it was at least a week old. The loaded baked potato was the only acceptable item that I received although very salty. The salsa BBQ sauce was a necessity to eat the flavorless, chewy and undercooked steak.
All this for over $50 usd equivalent which I should have just used to go to a decent steak restaurant. Such a highly disappointing first experience at Outback and will likely be my last. What a waste of a meal and money. I did order takeout, hopefully their dine-in experience is better but unlikely given the...
Read moreUgghh. I got roped in to going to Outback twice in the last month. HATED IT!! The afternoon luncheon service was ok, but the food left a lot to be desired I had baby back ribs that tasted like they had been boiled (tasteless) rather than baked. The slaw was insipid too, as was the cold breadbasket. ( Maybe I should have tried the actual basket). I think the corn on the cob had been cooking for several hours before it was served. Oh well, so much for the lunch. Last night's dinner (with a party of about 20) was worthy of a SNL skit. The so called Caesar salad dressing was super heavy with garlic, the lettuce was the limpest, most unappetizing lettuce in the history of the world. I ordered iced tea which arrived sans ice. I dared to take a bite of my neighbor's corn on the cob and, you guessed it, incredibly overcooked. In fairness though, my salmon was pretty good. When we called for the check, it took the staff almost 40 minutes to figure the bills and collect their money. Remember Larry, Moe and Curley? The 3 Stooges are alive and well at Puerto Vallarta Outback. I should have known....
