It must of been an “off” day for one cook and one server on the day of our arrival. It was mid morning weekday, when my traveling group and I decided to try out, literally, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant nearby our resort. It was approximately 5-10 minute walk down the street. A taxi driver recommended this place (small, quiet, quaint, hidden, affordable and good food).
Azul Vallarta.
Our server was nice woman. Greeted us and had a table ready for the six of us outside at patio area. We preferred outside anyway as the inside looked too tight and crammed.
Our order was placed in no time. Simple orders, such chilaquiles, rice and bean, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and water. Basic and simple. There were two other tables occupied next to us and from the looks of the customers, both have received their dishes. I felt we had waited too long for our food. We have not seen the server since our order was placed but can see her walking out and about nearby the kitchen area.
Our dishes arrived 15-20 minutes later. One dish was still missing. We proceeded to eat as one person was still waiting for his. We had called the server over asking how much longer for the dish to arrive. She assured us soon and commented that there was only one cook. It was approximately 5 minutes later our missing dish arrived. Our server was not a terrible person but an apology would have been appropriate for this situation.
Our experience at Azul Vallarta was not the best but not the worst. Service was poor, from food arriving late and one dish missing and it still took a while to arrive. Our server was not 100% all there and appeared to be the case with the other two tables. In short, our server took our order, brought our order and never came by to check on us. We did ask for more drinks and a utensil and nothing more than that during our encounter with her. She was bare minimum.
As for our breakfast, it was definitely not delicious. It was bland.
I did like the outdoor seating in patio area.
Would we return to Azul Vallarta? Maybe, maybe not. Hoping the food will taste better like real home made Mexican food. Like I said, it must have been an off day for both the cook and server.
Sorry, didn’t provide...
Read moreMixed review some items were good and some missed the mark. When we arrived at the restaurant and walked in the door we were not greeted and we noticed a table of 4 seated at one end. We thought they were customers but they were employees. Finally someone came from the back and told us to take a table. We were the only customers at the restaurant at 5:30 pm which should have told us something. The menu is written in English but the waiter didn't speak any English. Which resulted in one order being wrong. The employees seemed annoyed to have a customer. The table of 4 continued to laugh and enjoy themselves and left one worker to do the bulk of the work. Food and drinks were okay, nothing spectacular but nothing horribly bad about them. Just kind of bland. I would recommend trying other places nearby, the service and food here will leave you desiring...
Read moreAzul Vallarta, located in the Zona Hotelera of Puerto Vallarta, is a hidden gem tucked away in a plaza across the street from Puerto Magico. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat, I highly recommend stopping by after taking a tour from Vallarta Adventures. The food is excellent, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. While they may be a bit pricier than other options in the area, the quality and taste make it worth the extra cost. Don't leave without trying their delicious aguas frescas -...
