Compared with the tequila tourist distillery we visited last time, we highly recommend Tequila Orendain. I mean it. Because the tour guide staff is very professional and dedicated. We arrived at around 4pm on Saturday and were already among the last visitors. The employees didn't look tired at all, and they were very attentive in explaining to us tourists the manufacturing process of tequila and how to distinguish tequila by age. I think it can only be done by someone who loves it or has a passion for promoting tequila. There are employees who can speak English and Spanish. I personally recommend choosing the English commentary, because there are fewer people participating in the English group commentary, which can get a better tour atmosphere and give us more time to take photo, enjoy the vibe. The Spanish group has more people. During the tour, there was a stop where you could take photos with many agave. This was a great experience. The agave is a bit heavy. It’s an unforgettable experience if you pick it up. The last explanation station is wine tasting. There are many flavors and various concentrations of tequila to taste, and you can taste them freely. Thank you Tequila Orendain for giving us such a great experience visiting the...
Read moreWe came to visit our family in Guadalajara last month and they took us for the first time to Tequila, Jalisco. We were invited to La Mexicana Tequila Orendain for a tour and to taste their wonderful products.
We were received by an enthusiastic guide who was very knowledgeable of the distillation process and tequila. He gave us a fantastic tour of their grounds, we were able to see the manufacturing process, we learned about the blue agave, and the difference with the type of agave used in the fabrication of mezcal. They only thing I wish I would have seen was the Jimadores working on the plants.
Then we went into a private room to taste the three types they have Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. There is a lot to it, more than you might think… Here in the USA tequila is drunk as shots, but there is a science to it. There are different kinds of tequila, distillation methods, and food pairings that are appropriate for different occasions. First of all, the tequila was served in a flute glass, and it is supposed to be tasted in sips (Kiss the tequila).
After the tasting we were treated to a ‘Jarrita’, which is a cold cocktail made with Tequila which was delicious and tasty. I recommend to anyone who visits Jalisco to stop by La Mexicana, you will...

During my visit, the tour guide went above and beyond in providing ample information about the intricate process of tequila production. Their wealth of knowledge enhanced the experience, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship involved in creating this iconic Mexican spirit. Additionally, a video presentation about the founders of the company, who are proudly Mexican, added a personal touch to the visit, highlighting the passion and dedication behind the brand.
