I don’t normally write reviews frequently unless my experience is either great or very poor. Unfortunately, my experience at Cueva de Don Cenobio was possibly the worst dining experience that I have had in my life. We went here on December 30th after a tour at a different distillery with a party of 7. The drinks were fine, but we immediately started to have issues within 10-15 minutes of placing our order. First, two of our people received their food, only for the waiters to come back and take back the plates because they were sent to the wrong table. I understand that mistakes happen and I wasn’t going to write this place off just yet, but that was just the beginning. After that, it took over an hour for people in our party to start receiving their food. However, 3 people in our party, including myself, ordered steaks and those dishes were running behind. My uncle ordered the guacamole and the avocados were extremely tough and nowhere near ripe enough to be served. My girlfriend’s Arrachera was extremely overcooked and tough to the point that it was inedible. After over 2 total hours of waiting for the steaks, we decided that we had had enough and told the manager/staff that we wanted our check without the 3 dishes that we had been waiting for. 3 of the people in our party never got their food, so they left without eating, and we ended up with a check of 2700 MXP for the food that we had received. The view of the garden was beautiful, but the food here and lack of service here was completely unacceptable. The waiters actively avoided and ignored our table while we were waiting on the steaks. We never received any refills on waters, had the chance to order additional drinks and nobody came to apologize for the delay in the food. For the amount of money that you spend here, you should expect a much higher standard of service and food. Myself and my family will never return to this restaurant after...
Read moreWas recommended this place by a local guide. So I decided to go in with my wife, sister and three kids. When you walk in there’s really nobody to greet you in. I asked one of the servers if I had to wait to be seated, he said his section was full but the patio was open. So I went over to the patio area and the server there asked me who had sent me there I told him. He looked like he did not want to serve us so I was about to walk out (I wasn’t going to beg them to spend my money there). Before I could walk out one of the servers said I could sit in his section. The food was great, I ordered one of their parrillas it tasted great. Their block de lechón was also very tasty. Agua chile en chile verde was also great so I really can’t complain on their food, their kitchen does a great job!! The bar had good mixed drinks to choose from. I would give this restaurant 5 stars if they had actual servers that enjoy doing their job and not out here profiling customers in hopes of only serving people that they THINK will give them a good tip. I would not return to this place and would most definitely not recommend any tourist from...
Read moreThe young man that served us was fantastic but that was about where it stopped. I would have expected far more from the house of Sauza. The food was overpriced and underwhelming in terms of value, as good if not better food in more local restaurants at better prices. All of the cocktails were average and not tasting correct, again better elsewhere, I am sure this is a profiting thing and not necessarily the skill of the bartender. While we appreciate typical music and live musicians, the volume was so excessive it started to hurt my eardrums and there waa nowhere to escape inside the restaurant. We paid our bills and left to the garden with our drinks. The garden had Trestle table set up from a Mixology class that had never been cleaned up, and it just looked tatty in the overall appearance of the place. Everyone was nice, but management needs pick it up and focus on the right things we feel and not just...
