We took Betsy’s food tours twice on our trip to Oaxaca. She has a few options and after our first one which hit three of the markets in the center of Oaxaca we learned so much that we did a second tour to the Abastos Market. Let’s face it, the markets in Mexico can be overwhelming. These tours will show you where to go for some of the most delicious treats in the markets from women-run stalls that do things right. We ended up returning on our own to several of the stalls they had shown us throughout the rest of our trip- the items were so delicious. Betsy leads tours but also has other food tour guides that help lead when things are busy so we got to experience one tour with Luis who also has a cooking class and is super knowledgeable. Betsy led our tour to the Abastos Market and showed us so many hidden gems. She knows so much about the history of the region and the food in this part of Mexico. Plus, her family has their own food stall in Mercado Benito Juárez which is wonderful (Tacos Rosi). Add to this that she is such a sweet and giving person. All in all I HIGHLY recommend these tours. One of our favorite parts...

If you're in Oaxaca, you cannot miss this food tour! Betsy is a fantastic guide- she is extremely knowledgeable about the region& its food and not only shows you the best spots to grab a bite, but teaches you how to order at these & other stalls so you can comfortably eat for the rest of your trip!

I knew Oaxaca was famous for the food, but the variety was truly astounding! Even if you have food restrictions or allergies, it is no problem for Betsy! She knows the food & people so well- I would feel very comfortable bringing any family or friends with severe allergies along the food tour!

Honestly, a food tour only begins to describe it. We learned so much about the city, the culture, what to look for when buying products (not just food!) If you are only taking one tour in Oaxaca, this has to be it!

As a final note, this tour was also pet friendly. We brought along our little dog Gus who had a great time. There were just a couple spots where we had to pick her up, but that was no problem!

You must book this tour, and whatever you do, do NOT eat before the tour! You will be so full of the most amazing food...

I cannot recommend Betsy's market tours highly enough! My partner and I took both her Central de Abastos tour and her Signature Markets tour (which goes to three markets in the city center and includes a stop at her family's food stand to taste some incredible barbacoa). The Abastos market is massive and chaotic and absolutely amazing. We would have been totally lost there without Betsy, who knows the market like the back of her hand and led us from one incredible food stand to the next, places we never would have stumbled upon on our own. The Signature Markets tour was equally fabulous and delicious. My partner and I returned to many of the food stands we visited on the Signature Markets tour during our remaining days in Oaxaca, and we can't stop talking about how much we miss those spots and want to go back. And, to top it all off, Betsy herself is a gem of a person. She's warm and kind and so fun to chat with. I would for sure recommend booking both of Betsy's tours during your...

I can’t rate Betsy and the Oaxaca Street Food Tour highly enough. It was a highlight of our time in Oaxaca and I tried tons of foods and markets that I might have never been confident enough to order from or go to, or would have totally missed - plus the history and context provided make the experience so much richer. The tour started in the organic market (adorable), then hit a few others as well as a cacao manufacturing location and lots of other misc stops along the way (including Betsy’s family’s food stall)! Betsy was the sweetest, loveliest guide with perfect English and tons of background knowledge to share. It’s also not a strenuous tour, with lots of breaks sitting at tables to enjoy foods between markets, so it should be manageable for anyone able to walk about 1-2 miles flat. This is THE best way to try the best of the best traditional dishes in Oaxaca, and all from women-led businesses! Please visit Betsy and tell your friends to do the same!

Oaxaca Street Food Tour (OSFT) was a wonderful, overall tour company. They provide so much more than just the street-food tour, as Betsy (our guide) provided transfers from-and-to the airport, the street-food tour, and a textile/candle making and historical tour of the Teotitlan del Valle. She provided so much insight, but more importantly, her passion was infectious which created more intrigue from us all on the tour. She totally made the tour so much more than what we were expecting. Betsy allowed for flexibility with any minor tweaks or changes that we requested. She was always punctual, and showed up with smile! Betsy even made recommendations on dining, mezcal tastings, and other outings. There is no doubt I would highly recommend OSFT to provide any tour while in Oaxaca. Honestly, when we were leaving, we felt like we were leaving our friend Betsy behind.
