This is a wonderful cafe with lots of different choices. They have cold and hot versions of lots of the different kinds of drinks. They sell chocolate and other items that you really couldn't get anywhere else. It's nice and cool inside and they have an upper seating area upstairs from their main area as well as an outside area if it isn't too hot of a day. Don't worry about rain or getting sunburned outside because they have large umbrellas that will block the effects of those things. The cold chocolate drinks are especially good. I got the cold Mayan chocolate drink and it was absolutely amazing! They also have a selection of juices and licuados(which are kind of like a smoothie/milkshake) in many different flavors. I don't drink coffee myself, but others there said it was really good. One other thing is that the WiFi is very good, but if you're going to be there for a while, you might need to buy chocolate or another drink to get more(the new password will be on your receipt). Overall, I'd say it's a wonderful little place with air conditioning and a really nice atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and most speak English as well as Spanish. It's a wonderful cafe and I would highly recommend it to coffee drinkers and non-coffee...
Read moreUsed to Starbucks, Presse-cafe, Tim Hortons, Dunkin Donuts and other specialized boutique coffee shops, Ah Cacao is refreshing and an enyoyable place in Playa Del Carmen. Don't get me wrong, I still love Starbucks but, in Playa, they are very popular with tourists, smaller shops, free Internet, great locations and, not like home. The password for the Wi-Fi is on the transit number on your invoice; make sure you keep it.
When you order coffee, they take the time to prepare it and bring it to your table.
Outside seating or inside seating with AC on a 2 level coffee shop, great hot or cold coffee served and, electricity for your phone or computer available everywhere. Extra portable AC on tbe second level available for hot and humid days.

Read moreI just spent two weeks in PLAYA. Made it a point to walk all of 5th. Late day walking back to my rented condo I saw Ah Cacao. Went in small shop (all seating is outside at this location). I love chocolate and never had Mexican. Talked to friendly guy behind counter and bought two dark chocolate bars and took off. Next more morning broke off some pieces of one of the bars to add to my fresh fruit I bought at La Mega the Mexican Wal-Mart but better. OMG Extra Good! Showered and walked back to Ah Cacao to try Mexican coffee and buy more bars. Discovered the best oatmeal chocolate and double dark cookies ever as I sat outside at 9AM and watched 5th rev up.for the hustle and bustle activities. Did this 5-6 mornings it was so good. If I did not have a full breakfast at Choux Choux I walked couple extra blocks here..(Choux Choux is outstanding too.)Many nice people at the small outside tables. Friendly staff and great coffee and chocolates. They...
