We visited this restaurant "Muy Salsa" in Playa Del Carmen late January of this year. We ordered varios DISHES and one of Menu Dish of Shrimp Seafood tasted awful, so we notified the waitor for him to kindly Remove it from the table, and to Make Sure it is taken off the Billing upon Final Payment.
All be darm! The waitor forgot and had signed off his Shift, but forgot to notify his boss/manager/owner, and the new waitor who gave us the bill showed that the Item was not Deducted from the Bill.
The restaurant was now quiet and we were tired and had to walk a long journey to our hotel, so upon going up to the cash register to pay, as there was no table service to pay the bill. I Politely Explained to the Manager/Owner of the Charges Showing, on which the Waitor Returned the Food. He was in such a bad mood and really could not see why, as any staff can make a small mistake, but he Verbally Launched out telling me to Pay whatever I want to Pay, or Not to Pay Anything, and his remaining Staff heard, as well as other few customers, and worst of all, in his high pitched voice, he told me to PAY on his Cash Register whatever I want to pay, or even Don't Pay Nothing on Bill.
By Now I was Getting Upset with Him and Demanded for him to ADD the FULL CHARGES on his CASH REGISTER for us to PAY. I PAID IT COMPLETELY AND WE LEFT.
THIS WAS THE WORST SMALL RESTAURANT IN...
Read moreI am a full time PDC resident for 3 years and have been to Muy Salsa many times. I like the reliably average tasting food and beer prices. However, this evening I was very disappointed in how the bill was handled. The mesero delivered the small printed paper strip with a subtotal correctly adding up to what food & drink I had, but there was another number below that with no designation or explanation, and a total at the bottom that was the sum of both numbers. Only when I asked what was the second number, the mesero said it was the 15% tip. But nowhere on the paper identified that number was a propina. I told the mesero that I was not happy with the way he added and concealed a tip. I suspect many tourists don't ask, are misled, and tip twice. I will not go back to Muy Salsa because of this. There are so many other options on Quinta that are at least honest enough to post "suggested tip" on the bill. Not what Muy Salsa did to include and conceal a 15% tip, and hope the client does not...
Read moreThe food is very good here at Muy Salsa. Good value for the good quality. The problem comes at the end when you receive your bill ....... the waiter will tell you that you owe this much in pesos or this much in USD. Upon checking the bill carefully, they add an approximate 20% surcharge. Asked the waiter what that is for, he says taxes. BUT in QR, there is NO tax on food. In reality it is their markup for gratuity. For those unknowing souls that will add tip on top of what they say you need to pay - be aware! The actual amount that you owe is in quite small print, hoping you won't see it. In fact this is an illegal practice in Mexico. Like I said, food is very good but be careful of their...
