As someone who frequents this fish market, I can confidently say that it is a gem. Despite some negative reviews regarding customer service, I have consistently experienced friendly and helpful interactions with the man at the counter. It's possible that some customers may expect artificial friendliness, but I appreciate the genuine assistance provided here. During my visits, I have never encountered any rudeness or issues of that nature.

One of the reasons why I keep coming back is the self-serve nature of this market. Being able to choose my fish pieces at my own pace is incredibly convenient. I have often struggled in supermarkets to point out the right fillet, but the self-serve option here eliminates that problem entirely.

Well this place has gone downhill since the Asian owners bought it. Prices are high and the customer service is terrible. I was served by an Asian guy wearing a blue t-shirt in his late 30's i presume and after I asked him how his day was going he replied "yip" and then not even a thanks for the 60 dollars i spent on the fish i bought. I will never return and i would recommend that anyone that reads this goes to theos fisheries down Riccarton road. Much better quality and quantity of fish and customer service there is 10...

We bought a fresh whole moki fish, and the store attendant offered to gut it for us. They were also really helpful when we asked to have the especially spiky parts removed later. I’m glad I decided to go with the whole fish instead of the fillets, which didn’t seem very fresh. It turned out to be super easy to cook — I just added lemon, salt, and pepper.
