As someone who works in hospo I find this pretty hard to write. It was not a good experience because of very very simple things that staff failed to do.

We booked a table in advance, but they didn't bother to reserve a table, and instead we had to wait awkwardly outside in the rain while they kicked patrons out to clear their table.

They had a Matariki menu, which we weren't told about when I phoned to reserve the table the day before, which had 3 options to cook (in bulk). It's fine, we all like hangi, but also would like to have known the menu wasn't available when I called in advance. Anyway, didn't matter because fifteen minutes after arriving they scrapped the Matariki menu, too. Apparently no wait staff were aware that food was running out. So the Matariki menus were hastily replaced with the original menu. If only they were so hasty with taking our orders. We actually had a waiter come all the way over to the table about half an hour later, only to tell us he wasn't going to take our order, and instead to order at the bar.

These errors could have been really easily avoided with prior planning and just basic communication between staff and customers. Yes it was busy, but surely they saw that coming and could have brought more staff on for the night (public holiday, a greeter at the door would have been extremely beneficial) and maybe had a shift/duty manager who was a bit more on the ball.

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience on Friday it took an extremely long time for 3 cocktails to be made, along with having to reiterate our order multiple times over the course of a 25min wait, staff seemed very inexperienced and lacked customer interaction. Explanation of the menu was not offered and would of been greatly received. I requested a beverage and was told to go get it myself...after seeing her deliver drinks to another table. Dessert may as well not be on the menu, 1 option only and you have to ask what it is from the staff..I was met with a very poor answer and decided to pass. We also ordered 2 full platters to share which came out quickly and the kitchen staff did great, however the price vs what was received was disappointing, the share platter for 5 people would of been ok if you were kids. Disappointed with our meals. We had celebrated my Birthday once before here(5 people), it was fantastic, so we thought we would again. We had platters to share with all sorts of BBQ meats etc. It was one of the better meals out we had. This time, horrible! Menu was completely different, offered nothing like we had before. Wouldn't have been so bad if they nailed what they did offer, but it was horrible. Pizzas were tasteless, mostly puffed up base, and no flavor. The meat lovers pizza 🤢 No sauce, meats all pale and poached looking, the chicken on it tasted like old pre cooked chicken from the Supermarket. The Margarita Pizza, worse! Where was the sauce and cheese? All we could taste was the base. Dominos is better and that's saying something. The Southern fried chicken, was all crumb, where was the chicken? Only thing they did right were the chips. Won't be back for food again, unless...
