I am a Chilean citizen whom has been living in NZ for 9 years. I Usually go to this Countdown as I work at the UC. Yesterday, around 7:30 pm, I went into this establishment with one of my Chilean friends to buy some Chilean wine as you guys have quite a great Chilean Wine range of red wine. My friend is from Chile and on her working holiday. As soon as we walked in we were mean mugged and followed by the security woman. I noticed she followed us for a bit but we didn’t take much attention to this. As we were choosing one of the roast chickens for dinner she comes up to my friend Camila and gets super close to her, way less than the legal meter social distance. She demanded that Camila pulls up her mask. My friend was wearing her mask, it might have been a bit lower than usual as she’s a tiny girl but definitely covering her nostrils. “You need to pull your mask up!” and not maintaining social distancing and pointing someone straight in the face, isn’t the proper way to deal with this. A Please wasn’t used and Camila felt attacked and racially discriminated as none of the other white kiwis whom were coming in with us got followed or told to pull their masks up (even when they were wearing cloth masks not proper surgical or KN95 masks, which we were in fact wearing.) I understand this isn’t a Countdown issue but security at this location is in fact racist and unprofessional. We will not be going back to this location as we feel unsafe. Just wanted to bring this up to Riccarton Countdown management so you guys can report this security woman to the security company for her to actually get properly trained in differentiating thieves and...
Read moreHonestly I was always very skeptical about click to collect until some circumstances made me do it for the first time. Then I did it again at the different store - Moorhouse Ave Woolies not only Church Corner one, same amazing experience. Actually Woolies personal shoppers did the shopping better than I would and I am a picky and sassy shopper, I don't even trust my family to do the shopping for me! I was utterly impressed. Best items ever picked and I was shopping across the range of fresh and tricky produce, breads, bulk items. Once I wanted only ONE chunky carrot and got the exact thing, perfect one! And another super important thing taken from this experience - it saves me not only heaps of time to click&collect, it helps me budget. It is free over certain $$ (which we spent @ supermarkets anyway) and I get exactly what I want and I never go overboard by adding an item here and item there so I actually end up spending less then intended and feel great about it.Finally,$1.50 paid for paper bags per round of click to collect is also $ spent well. These are perfect for weekly recucable items which can be placed directly into the yellow bin. So ++++ only and great thank you for being my smart shoppers. Life and budget savers indeed! Will keep doing it big time. Also this very store @ Church Corner once helped in amazing way when I had a problem with dairy product. Replaced and refunded in the best possible customer service manner So, although out of the way big time this remains one of my fav...
Read moreI was searching how to put forward how one of the staff have been so amazing many shops later. We have been in the area short term whilst our house renovation. I’m quite gobsmacked by the other reviews of the store. They definitely don’t match of our experience over the last 3 months. Price- very on point and equally competitive. Options- my children are Ceoliacs, I find this store more abundant ( and easy to find in store) GF products ( countdown has always provided GF products at a reasonable price, esp the basic pantry items ) plus they have so many imported food items in store that you would normally do 3 shops. Staff- don’t see any complaints in the reviews, however have to mention, from every department I’ve experienced nothing but : helpful, always greeted with a smile( to the point of the lovely security people at the door and I store) . Hence my reason to get on the website. The staff that stock the shelves at nearly closing ( sure they must get annoyed but don’t show it) that get asked for help to search for products. Etc One last- the produce is always fresh and price competitive! One of the produce guys, went out of his way once to find me courgettes! They were sold out, however he managed to find the last 2 in the...
