Ramen Miyako — Restaurant in Christchurch

My family of six stumbled upon this gem of a place since the Korean restaurant just two doors down was shut even though their website said it was open (Ye-Chon Korean). The young server was very courteous and attentive. Everything was freshly made, served warm, and delicious. We order edamame, and pork dumplings as starters. Both were delicious. We had never had edamame so warms D perfectly salted. One order of pork dumplings has six pieces so we order two. Perfect starters! Four of us had the spicy ramen. You can upgrade to a large for free as long as you the person who upsizes it eats it! The ramen noodles seemed homemade. I believe I was sitting next to the noodle ramen making room! (See photo). The bowls of ramen were so authentic. It felt like we were back in Japan!👌💗 We also ordered the ramen miso soup and the cubed pork with rice which came with a complimentary miso soup! Service was quick, to order and be served our meals, and as we were eating, the place got packed! It was our last night in Christchurch and we were very pleased to have had such a delicious meal! 10 March 2022 - Dinner tonight with my daughter. I don't feel like cooking and so, I decided to bring her to a dinner date 🤣. I felt like eating a noodle dish but don't know what kind of noodle dish. When i drove past Church Corner, I saw Ramen Miyako and instantly I decided to eat there 😅.

When we arrived, we were asked to self-scan our vaccine pass 🛂 and then sit down to look through the menu. You will need to go to the front counter, order and pay your food there.

We ordered a wasabi octopus, takoyaki, Nagoya Ramen 🍜 (I asked them to double the spiciness 🌶 ) and Paitan Miso Ramen 🍜.

They accept cash and EFTPOS payment only. There is no credit card payment option. Also, Paywave is not available, for those who want to know.

Really enjoyed the curry rice dish here. There were a few spice levels to choose from, I got very spicy, and it was just right. I feel like the heat is like similar to habanero hot peppers. The curry was sweet but also salty, and has great flavors. I dont say that much about Japanese curries but this place was really good.

The ramen was also very good with good flavors in the broth. The pork chasu was cut very thick.

The condiments on the table was also labeled. There was also suggestions on how to flavour your ramen.

Run by japanese people so you know its authentic. There is plenty of parking on Leslie St car park. Also noting they dknt accept international payment. We had to go withdraw cash from a nearby atm.

Whole heartedly recommend dining here and prices...
