Ridgeline Wanaka — Local services in South Island

I booked this Wild Hills Safari tour on a whim just a day before our flight from Singapore to New Zealand, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide, Brent, was fantastic—an excellent driver and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned so much about local conservation efforts, including the traps set to control pests like weasels and possums. He also shared fascinating insights into Wanaka’s farming history from the 1800s and the diverse plant life in the mountains.

The short hike up the mountain was absolutely worth it—the panoramic view of Lake Wanaka under clear blue skies was breathtaking. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality, including the delicious coffee, tea, and fruit cake. Apologies for arriving a little late due to parking our caravan! Had such an awesome day with Ridgeline! Geoff was an amazing guide offering us information about the land along the way and providing a lovely coffee and cake treat! The tour takes you into the stunning Aspiring National Park - driving through farmland full of cows and sheep and with beautiful mountain views the whole day (the wishbone falls stop was a highlight for me!) The tour also takes you further into the park than you are allowed to access with your own vehicle which makes it an extra special experience. It was a really fun and relaxing way to get out into nature and soak in the mountain views while someone else does all the driving! It feels like a true kiwi experience and a great way to access the national park for people...

We have just done the West Wanaka Station safari with Steve as our guide. Wow - what a great adventure! We are probably what you might consider "budget" travellers, but this tour far exceeded our expectations and is up there as one of our favourite trips ever. Amazing scenery, adventurous 4WD track (but not frightening), friendly and knowledgable guide, and a truly value for money day. We learnt so much about the Station as well as the history and geology of the region, flora, fauna and NZ in general. If you only have time for one tour in Wanaka then pick this one - you won't be...
