This wharf is a popular hot spot and pleasure point for those who take their R & R seriously, be it fishing, diving, pier-jumping, swimming, napping, dog-walking, sunbathing or just hanging around to watch everyone else. It also used to be one of the terminals for the East by West ferries until it was damaged in the last earthquake. Currently closed for maintenance.... I had the chance to have a walk here before closing, early 2021. Didn't feel particularly unsafe, just it's silly it takes so long to fix. You wonder why they still haven't done a tunnel to Wainui, and they take over 2 years to fix a...
