Where do a I begin? So I decided to order an iskender from Kilim to be delivered by 8:30pm 6/12/17 to where I work... and what a joke! $23 (including delivery fee from deliver easy) and I seriously will never be ordering again. This place is a far cry from the quality and quantity you can get from other Turkish places in the Wellington region (to name one off the top of my head is an amazing Turkish place in hataitai which leaves you satisfied and the quality AND quantity is seriously brag worthy that I can’t fault it).

I’m actually disappointed I didn’t take a photo of what was delivered but best example I can give is if you get takeaways regularly then you know what a medium size plastic takeaway container is... THAT is what I got my iskender in! I get more from ‘Kebab on Queen’ (courtney place) and that place is as average as they come NOW THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING.

I have eaten food from a plethora of places in New Zealand and am a good judge of food so Kilim is a serious let down and considering I live in Petone and eat at places like Logan Brown right through to Mekong Cafe believe me when I say that you can find better Turkish food (especially a lamb iskender) elsewhere.

A medium sized plastic takeaway container... I can’t wrap my head around it. Before Mehmet sold the place to the new owner it was good and he cared about both quantity and quality. What a let down... if you want to survive in the food industry up your game and maybe take some lessons from the Owner of the Turkish place in Hataitai or even ask Mehmet to come back or even ask the owner of Abrakebabra.

Sorry for the long post but I wouldn’t leave a dishonest review ever since I blog about food...

Well designed Turkish place in Wellington. The place has a real Turkish vibe with all that Middle Easter ornaments. Menu is authentic Turkish menu with a touch of western cuisine but some of the main foods are not served in authentic and traditional way. For example Iskender kebab which is a very famous Turkish food and should be served on chopped Turkish bread and sauce, in this restaurant is served on rice. Staff are really friendly and polite. We ordered mixed grill plate, Adana burger and lamb güvec. I also inquired if they serve Ayran (Turkish yogurt drink) but the answer was no. Also place doesn’t serve alcohol but is a byo.

Adana burger was food of the night for us. Authentic taste and decent size. It was spicy and this is the real Adana style food.

Mixed grill was ok but really poor presentation. Everything was thrown in a plate with some salad and beetroot deep and a piece of Turkish bread which was covered with beetroot deep. My friend who doesn’t like beetroot was pretty upset so I swapped my bread with him. Güvec was really nice, well cooked and presented also really spicy which shouldn’t be! Actually all of our orders were spicy but it can be a misunderstanding from our side as my friend asked for spicy sauce which could be interpreted as we all wanted of our foods spicy!

Price was reasonable in comparison to other Turkish places I have been and also if you consider the portion of the food. Kitchen closes at 9 pm. The place has no parking issues and there is lots of parking spaces...

. (05/2018) This amazing Turkish restaurants is conveniently located over Jackson Street and is easy to notice from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Easily accessible. Well managed, organised and nicely maintained. Spacious and comfortable seating. Excellent ambiance and cosy atmosphere. Lovely interior with some amazing illustrations and beautiful handmade mini-carpets on display over the walls. Well timed and cordial service. The best part we liked about this restaurant was cheerful, witty and spontaneous staff who made all our tiredness go away. Plentiful food options including many vegan and vegetarian ones which are clearly marked over the menu. Delicious authentic Turkish Food and quantity is huge. Good presentation. Table service. Offers takeaways. Good place for quick bite. Normally busy during peak hours. Reservation can be made in advance and is recommended for big groups. Good for groups, celebrations, family, kids and catch-ups. PayWave facility is available at this location. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. Outdoor seating is not available. There is no dedicated parking area available for this restaurant although ample street parking can be found around the entrance. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. Enjoyed...

Nestled in the heart of Petone, Kilim is a delightful haven for Turkish cuisine enthusiasts. The cozy and traditional ambiance transports diners to the vibrant streets of Istanbul. The menu, available online and regularly updated, streamlines the ordering process for those opting for the convenience of a phone order. The standout dish at Kilim is undoubtedly the Lamb Donner with garlic yogurt. The succulent, well-seasoned lamb, expertly cooked and paired with the creamy garlic yogurt, is a taste sensation. Each bite is a symphony of flavors that captures the essence of authentic Turkish cuisine. The freshness of the ingredients is evident, adding a layer of quality to every dish. Beyond the delectable fare, the service at Kilim is commendable. The staff is attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Whether you're a connoisseur of Turkish delights or a newcomer to the cuisine, Kilim's warm atmosphere and flavourful offerings make it a must-visit. This hidden gem in Petone delivers a taste of Turkey that will leave you planning your next visit.

We visited Kilim at lunch hour on the weekend. The meals and all the other foods and desserts we ordered were really huge portions.. Service is excellent, cheerful, nimble and very efficient staff members.. The Turkish food is very tasty, quite different from typical other cuisines that restaurants generally serve. The place is very cozy, has a great ambience and is very neat and clean.. There are a few options for vegetarians too and is a really fantastic place for meat lovers.. Good place for anyone with a good appetite and for people who like to experiment with non stereo typical cuisine.. Our over experience was really nice, certainly worth a second and third visit, to try out the other stuff being served..
