Good Stay here at the BKs Motel. Have stayed in a few around the Country, and all of them tend to be comfortable and well priced. BKs Premier Motel is located right on The Esplanade in Petone. It is one crazy busy road, especially at Rush Hour times. Unfortunately, my room was on the ground floor, facing the road and the Harbour. While this offered a decent view down the Harbour and out to Cook Strait, it did mean the Road Noise was quite noticeable. Plenty of on-site parking at the Motel, with easy access from a side street. Friendly welcome from the Lady at Reception. She gave excellent directions to my room, and also information about accessing the building overnight. This Motel is more set up like a Hotel, than a traditional Motel. Rooms are accessed from a Central Hallway on both floors, meaning you have to pass through Reception each time you come and go. The room itself was nicely set up. Decent Kitchenette, and with a proper bottle of milk in the fridge! None of that UHT rubbish here! It was freezing in the room when I arrived, however the Heatpump definitely did a good job at heating up the space quickly. Large wall mounted TV, with two Lazyboy type Recliners perched in front of the bed. There is no Sky Decoder that offers the whole range of Channels, like many other Motels have. But there is a Smart TV with Casting available. Bed was very comfortable. With decent quality, and spotlessly clean linen. Bathroom was quite tight, with a large corner spa taking up most of it. I usually detest staying on ground floor units, as being a light sleeper, people walking around on the floor above keeps me awake. Unfortunately, this was the last room available, so I had little option. I was pleasantly surprised. Not one bit of noise from the floor above. Absolute silence on that front. Also no noise from the Hallway, no doors banging shut, or people congregating. Petone itself is only a short drive away, with plenty of eating options and supermarkets. Plenty of places also deliver meals to the Motel. BKs Premier Motel is a brilliant place to spend a night. It was rather nice not staying in Central Wellington. The price was a little on the high side, but not by much. So definitely recommend this Motel as a place to stay. Friendly Service, Spotlessly clean rooms, comfortable and well appointed.

New managers are horrible. The man with the South African accent actually said to his wife (directly in front of me) "he can go stay with the filthy Indian's". The room was as terrible as the service. Had stayed here for years. With the new owner, I would advise everyone to stay away. I have stayed there for maybe 150 nights. In 5 minutes I had such a horrible experience I will never be back. The manager says he has been in hospo for 20 years, that does not show. I have moved to the Sebel, for the same price, you get a brand new hotel with perfect service. NOTE, I waited several weeks to post this in the hope that an apology may have been forthcoming. Due to the name of the old and new manager being the same, I was emailing a different person than I thought and I accept there was a miscommunication. However, I fail to understand how I could have known that. I ordered the room in exactly the same way I had for years. Interestingly, when they emailed my invoice, it still had the email signature of the old managers - that will be my fault too! I had hoped they might have seen that over time, they have not.

Stayed overnight last week. Thanks to Alan and his wife, we had a lovely stay. Spotlessly clean, fab views across Harbour from ground floor room, imagine upstairs would be great😄 Double glazing meant no road noise in room at all. Great bed and room facilities. Two big lazy boy chairs to watch very large screen TV. No breakfast available at time, but an easy walk to Jackson Street cafes. Beautiful weather, so able to sit outside and watch the sunset! Would highly recommend 👌 👍

Stayed here Friday Night and Saturday Night the 12th and the 13th of January. The first night I slept under the covers in the bed whereas the rest of my family didn't I woke up the next morning with bites all over my body, we were very certain that they were bed bug bites we mentioned it to the owners and they said they would check it out when we went out. So we then returned later and claimed they couldn't see anything and were "googling" it and tried saying that My bites weren't from bed bugs when we had them checked by a pharmacist and they confirmed that they were bed bug bites.

We decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and we started searching the beds ourselves we then later discovered not only were there stains on the sheets but we also had other people's hair and crumbs within the sheets and beds.

But then with further looking we found bed bugs in the bed and larvae and eggs from them.

We mentioned this to them and showed them they then tried to shrug it off as it's not bed bugs and then tried to put the blame on us saying "we trust the cleanliness of our clientele, and that we don't know you guys could have bought them with you not saying you did but you could have"

They were much pretty much saying that they "aren't bed bugs" and that if they were that we bought them with us. They were very odd in the way they asked us "well what do you want to us to do then" type of thing they said they would put is in a new room and I asked can you promise there won't be bed bugs in the new room and they said and I quote "no we can't promise you that we don't know" which is bizarre among other things.

We paid $250 a night we stayed 2 nights and this is what we got.

We mentioned why our room wasn't serviced correctly as I used to be a house keeper myself and know what goes into servicing the rooms and the husband said "because their house keepers not maids" which was quite the comment considering I've done house keeping myself and know how rooms should be serviced.

When doing house keeping we had to make sure all the sheets were in impeccable condition with no stains whatsoever if there were any stains we weren't allowed to use them and had to grab new ones.

When we got put into the new room we thought all was well until I woke up again the next morning with many more bites. When it was all mentioned they never had a proper look they just did a quick look with a torch not actually looking In between the crevices which is where I found them. They said they sincerely apologize but did nothing else at all except for apologize. Meanwhile I'm sitting here with countless bites all over me, with them claiming we bought them with us because they "never" had an issue.

For $250 a night we're definitely not impressed we were left severely uncomfortable and disgusted with not only the service but the quality of what we received. We will definitely not be staying again.

They could've offered us a refund for the horrible service and bed bug bites we got but no they didn't...

My family and I, a group of 3 adults, checked in on December 30. Terrible experience. I have seldom been treated as shabbily as I was by the Manager. When we checked in, we were given one electronic key for 3 people. We requested 3 keys, one for each adult in the group. I believe the hotel charges extra for the third person. Two new keys had to be coded. The lady who checked us in did not know how to code the electronic keys, said the Manager had to do it. The Manager came in and gave us two more keys. Our room was on the upper floor at the very end of the corridor. We carried our bags to the upper floor to the very end of the corridor, only to find that only one key worked, The other two did not. I walked back to the office to get the keys recoded. I received two new keys. When I walked back to the room, the original key that worked did not work anymore. I returned to the office to get us the third key. Then we went out. When we returned the Manager gave me a new (third) key. The new key worked, but the other two keys did not work anymore. It was past 8:00PM and the Manager grumbled that he had to go to bed. I asked him, "what about us, still waiting for 3 good keys?". For this matter-of-fact question , the Manager blew his top. He threatened that if I spoke anymore he would have me thrown out for disturbance. I had never raised my voice or threatened him or anybody else in any way. When I again asked for the three keys the Manager, refused point blank, said he was not going to get us three keys, we had to make do with one and walked away. We had to go out late that night. When we returned we were so concerned that the one good key might not work. Even though we had paid the hotel room rent in advance, had behaved appropriately, been polite with our requests, we were deeply concerned that we would not have a room for the night, that we may not be able to enter the hotel or unlock our room. If the owners of this hotel read this review, they should discipline the Manager for his poor behavior and consider refunding part of the money since we never had 3 keys for the three adults and the hotel charges for three adults. One more thing. The bathroom fan did not work and that was another problem I reported to the Manager, which was possibly a contributing reason for his behavior, since he had to walk up to the room to check the fan and confirm it was not functional, but on a Saturday night, there was noting he could do about...
