Get your tourist visa to enter Bolivia from this Consulate in Puno. It is worth the effort to get it here ahead of the border crossing, to take away the uncertainty. After submitting all the required documents and the online form (everything printed out in hardcopy), the lady would give you a small slip of paper to make payment at BCP bank (near the plaza area, about 5 to 10min walk). The bank opens at 9am but there would be a queue formed outside before that. After making payment (old or stained USD not accepted), you will get a receipt from the bank. Bring this receipt back to the Bolivia Consulate along with your documents for submission. Wait another 30 minutes or so, and you will receive the visa in your passport. What a shame and inconvenience taking the time out of our morning to be organised only to be turned away and told to do the visa at the kasani border crossing. There is an emergency number posted that is available on whatsapp, but I have had no response there so far. The sign says 8 am - 4 pm monday to friday but maybe that’s just a suggestion.
