Tayka Hostel — Hotel in Puno

This is a decent little hotel in Puno, situated very well -- close to the city's main square. The bus station is less than a 10-minute drive.||I stayed in a shared room of 4 beds. It was clean, there was a large window overlooking the street so lots of natural light, but not noisy. There was a private bathroom which was clean. ||The staff was nice and very helpful. There is a fridge on the property where guests can store stuff. Kitchen is not for use by guests. ||The breakfast, included in the price, was not great -- dry bread, so-so cheese, ham (which I dont eat) butter, jam, weak coffee. I paid 3 soles extra to get a portion of scrambled eggs.||This place is a good deal if you get it cheap. (I paid a lot more than it deserves because I went in the peak season -- during the festival of Candelaria.)

Me and my girl travel budget and have been in various cheap places across Peru in the last month. But this one was by far the best. They pay attention to details, like bringing avocado for breakfast after I mentioned I don't eat butter. Or offering free tea in the afternoon and evening. Or bringing extra food for breakfast because people are still there eating, even though the breakfast official time passed. The room was really clean, much cleaner than places at this price level. They even cleaned it again after the first night and changed our towels. At 53 PEN/night! The room was large. A bit cold of course in June, but for 10 PEN we got a heater. Shower water is extremely hot.

Agosto a Puno equivale a freddo!!ecco perchè mi aspettavo un luogo caldo e confortevole ed invece per avere il caldo devi pagare (10 S/ per una stufetta mal messa) e per il comfort invece vi consiglierei proprio un altro albergo nonostante questo fosse a 2 minuti a piedi da plaza de armas. Avevamo prenotato una matrimoniale (80 S/ come quella che vedete nella foto) ed invece allo stesso prezzo ci hanno dato una doppia (scusandosi ma senza dare spiegazioni sul cambio arbitrario di prenotazione) sempre con bagno privato. L'acqua calda vi assicuro che non viene (neanche disattivando ed attivando di nuovo il comando elettrico nel bagno) se non per 5 secondi che non bastano nemmeno per insaponarsi e vi garantisco che dopo un viaggio in pullman per arrivare a Puno una bella doccia calda in un posto così freddo sarebbe stata una mano santa!!la camera offre, se vi interessa, tv via cavo e ampio mobile. La colazione a buffet al mattino è abbondante ma vi dovete armare di pazienza. I tavoli a disposizione rispetto agli occupanti l'albergo sono insufficienti. Il servizio lavanderia (per noi necessario dopo quasi 8 giorni di viaggio con uno zaino composto del minimo indispensabile) è relativamente costoso ma i panni vengono lavati bene anche se riconsegnati umidi (ma il clima non garantisce niente di meglio). Mi raccomando se volete rimanere per più di una notte fatelo ben presente al momento del check in perché altrimenti considerano, senza chiedere, la prenotazione solo per una notte. Dalle 16 è disponibile thè caldo o mate de coca caldo...questo sì che era piacevole.||wi-fi gratuita e postazione internet in corridoio. deposito bagagli gratuito. bagno in comune al piano terra non molto pulito e profumato.
