Hala Targowa — Local services in Krakow

This is really two different places. Hali Targowej is the big building, completed during the German occupation, that was intended to replace the open-air market next door. However it is now an OK-ish supermarket with rather poor vegetables. The covered market is called Unitarg and it's a bit intimidating for foreigners but you should overcome your fears and venture inside. The produce here is really good, fresher, more seasonal and cheaper than the supermarket and there are lots of little shops with marvellous and unusual foods for sale as well as the usual staples.

On Sundays there's usually a book and antique market but that's suspended at the moment...

I recently visited Hala Targowa and was impressed with the experience. The market is bustling with vendors selling fresh vegetables, fruits, and other items.
