What a beautiful garden in the middle of Krakow. To be honest my expectations were not high for this garden as we scheduled our days in the city - how wrong I was! This place is truly special and was a highlight of our time in Małopolska.
Entrance: We had a short wait which last probably less than 10 minutes to purchase tickets. We didn't buy tickets online because we didn't think the gardens would be so popular. But reflecting back on it, now it makes sense. Having such a tranquil space in the middle of the busy city is likely a nice retreat for locals as well as visitors.
Inside: My family including a young child enjoyed the open spaces and walking paths that weaved through the park. My personal favorite space were the greenhouses, although the one with the large palm tree was closed. I enjoyed seeing the tropical plants which included orchids, bromeliads, aroids, water plants, fruiting trees, carnivorous plants, aloes, stapelia, agave, Cyads, and cacti, and so many more species which I've always wanted to try and grow myself at home. Inside the orchid garden was a staff member who seemed happy to answer my questions about a species of orchid that had no tag.
The cafe: There is a small cafe that serves coffee, teas, ice cream, and perhaps sandwiches although we only bought ice-cream for my son (lemonade flavor).
The feeling: The gardens felt very open. I thought such a location in the city would feel small and tight, but the landscaping is superb with plenty of space to breathe deeply and enjoy some uncommon plants you won't see anywhere else. We never felt rushed or out of place as one might in some botanical gardens around the world. Everyone seemed very welcome here.
Five starts and definitely...

Read moreThe last time I was in Krakow was while on a 14-day vacation in 2022 and I only spent 1 night here because I was headed to Zakopane. This time, I am here for 3 nights! I was so excited to attend an event while on sabbatical in Poland. One of my favorite singers, the beautiful, brilliant, and talented Ledisi with her amazing band performed on stage at the beautiful Botanical Gardens of the Jagiellonian University. The venue was gorgeous and well organized. The staff were professional and friendly. Disclaimer: I am paraphrasing. It touched my heart to hear Ledisi say, she didn't realize there were people waiting on her on the other side of the ocean. Poland showed up and with so much love per usual! It was an honor to be amongst universal music lovers together enjoying a wonderful evening of entertainment in Krakow!! It was worth every kilometer traveled!...
