This place was terrible. Tacky is the word that comes to mind, actually. It's advertised as a place for a full-day family outing but it's just a cross between a cheap travelling carneval and a back-alley market, the kind you used to find in Holešovice or that dominates Viipuri/Viborg.
You can pay too much money to do the gravity slide thing, but if there are people in front of you they will ride the brake the whole way and ruin your fun. The people running the ride don't care about you or your enjoyment or your safety. Just go go go. And maybe it isn't their fault. The lines are so long they can't bother to care, and the lines are so long because there's literally nothing else to do here. NOTHING. And the ride isn't very long. The kids liked it and we went five times and two of the five rides were good, and of those two only one was really fun, because no one slowed us down because we waited until the employees yelled at us to go.
Then what? There's a beach where you can sit and look at the mountains. No service, but it's a great view. No playground at all to entertain the kids while you relax and bask. So you don't. You just walk right on by.
The ice cream. The ice cream was really good. My wife says it rivals Italian. I wasn't quite that convinced but it was good and there were many brands and varieties.
A bunch of restaurants. Most are a miss. Overpriced. A few are okay with friendly service. Most are pretty gruff.
And then there's the alley. Just a long road on top of the ridge with stall after stall after stall of cheap material goods you can buy anywhere. The people running them are rude and unpleasant and a good deal of them are obviously high. Between these tickytacky stalls you find occasional carnival rides and activities for kids, every one of them with a different entrance fee. Bumper cars, jumpy castles, skee ball. There's a ropes course and a tube slide, but you can find better elsewhere.
Nothing but diversion after diversion after diversion, cheap and thoughtless, having nothing to do with being in the mountains, the Tatras. There is no experience here you can't have anywhere else for better service and prices. And there is nothing here that js free. No playground to just let the kids loose on. It was an absolute and utter waste of money taking that stupid lift up here.
Now, if you keep walking, you leave that all behind, you'll find some of the quietest and least populated trails in the Polish Tatras. Quiet and calm and blueberry bushes that have never been picked. We enjoyed the long paradisical walk out of hell. All Gubałowka is is hell. Just a nightmare. Why would you spend a day at this place if you've come to the Tatras to be in the Tatras? The only good thing about this place is leaving it behind....
Read moreA nice place to spend quality time with your children, and very suitable for young and old, ticket prices are good, there are places to eat and drink, there is a popular market selling handicrafts from wool, sculptures and traditional accessories, I recommend...
