Tâmpa is OK. Tâmpa Cable Car and related are not! I think this place describes best the communist Era of Romania = current attitude/will of our Government/Mafia. If you want to go back in time, go here. First, you get at the base of the hill, by foot from the city center - pretty ok. Then you want to go up: option 1 - cablecar, option 2 - by food trough the woods. We picked option 1 since we were not equipped well. For the cablecar you need to pay, as an adult 18 RON (approx. 3.85 EUR), up and down or just 10 RON (approx 2.15 EUR) one way only. The cablecar is old. Tenths of years old. It is slow and it vibrates a lot. The only nice thing with it was the attendant, really nice man. Up there, you are welcomed in an old building, touched by aging and not renovated recently. Your only thing to do is to go near the BRASOV letters and admire the view. This is nice, if you are not aware of falling because of the insecure environment. There is also a bar, which we did not want to try because it was so full and there was NO VIEW (NO EXTERIOR WINDOWS). I will let the pictures "talk" for the rest of not ok things (insecure stairs, creepy parking lot, damaged walls, improper strike earthing, etc) I will never go back there if things will...
Read moreOur visit to the cable car in Brașov was one of the highlights of our trip to Romania. The ride itself was short but enjoyable – it’s always fun to be suspended above the trees with the landscape opening up around you. As the cable car ascended Tampa Mountain, the views of Brașov below became more and more breathtaking. It’s a smooth and safe ride, and the staff were polite and efficient, making the whole experience pleasant from start to finish.
At the top, we were treated to a stunning panoramic view of the city. The famous "BRAȘOV" sign – reminiscent of the Hollywood sign – is a great photo opportunity, and it’s exciting to see the city laid out beneath you from such a high vantage point. The air is fresh, the forested surroundings are peaceful, and there’s a wonderful sense of being above it all.
After enjoying the views and taking plenty of pictures, we decided to walk down the mountain instead of taking the cable car back. The hiking trail was beautiful – shaded by trees, well-marked, and filled with scenic spots. It took us about 45 minutes at a relaxed pace, and it was a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Highly recommended for anyone...
Read moreAmazing view of the city from the top. I went just before sunset on a friday, and the cable car was not going up anymore. It seems that it stops working early. I was going to try walking up anyways. But it would be nice to have this service working until the night on friday or saturday!! Anyways the hiking path is awesome and completely worth it. Going up took me 40 minutes, including ome or two 3-5 minutes stops to rest, but I rushed my way up there a bit. If you are not in a regular/good physical condition, this can be challenging. If you get tired of going up some medium sized stairs, then you should not try it (i recommend you to get in shape though:)). When you reach the Brasov sign at the top, you already have an awesome view of the city. But there's still another place higher that you shouldn't miss. The views are incredible. Bring some clothes if you go at sunset or night, it can be cold with the wind during spring. Much more if you sweated your tshirt on the way up. Sitting there with the view is amazing. This might be the best i have...
