February 24, 2024 to February 25,2024: Booking for Standard Apartment (Entry Level) – 1 double bed, 2 Adults Checked out 10.40am February 25,2024:
12.24pm – Received a phone call from the receptionist saying “I have damaged the bedding in the unit that I booked”, continued to read out the costs of each item that were apparently stained by me. Also added that I will be liable if the stains don’t wash out after their cleaning process.
13.25pm- Phoned the manager to get more information on the stains that were apparently made by me, She also continued to read out the items that were stained and I will be liable for a total cost of R2740.00 if the stains don’t come out after soaking. She confirmed that I did pay the deposit of R1000. She also added that this was their worst case that they’ve had. And I should wait for their phone call to give me a report on the stains around 10.00am February 26,2024.
February 26,2024: 10.28am – Phoned the manager again to check if the stains came out, she said only the two pillows and 1 king duvet cover were still stained after soaking. The total cost was now: R1850.00 for all of the damages and said I can come fetch the items. I asked for proof of the stains but they didn’t have any.
16.48pm – Arrived on site saw that these were old stains, Receptionist added that apparently there was blue dye on these items. I asked them to call the housekeeper “Nasiphi”, she also added that there were indeed blue dye stains. I also asked to check their footage to see if any of us have blue hair since they say we were using blue dye. They didn’t do that.
February 27, 2024: 10.25am – I arrived with the police to assist me with my complaint, we spoke to Susara seemingly the manager, who said that they won’t give me back my remainder of my deposit R940. Susara was also not able to supply me with the evidence that shows that I indeed stained the bedding with blue dye. She didn’t want to listen to anything that I said nor answer the questions I had for her. I should add that this is very disappointing as I am a young black man who booked a room to rest at Paxton luxury apartments but only to be insulted and ill-treated as soon as I checked out of the room. I would like to also highlight how utterly disrespectful the staff is. I did not use any blue dye nor did I damage any sheets. This is a money-making scheme making guests fall victim to a deposit scam.

Read moreFrom check in to check out the experience was terrible. The rooms are cold and clinical and there is no balcony furniture. We were not happy but they said their policy was not to refund.
They read and make you sign a long list of rules and then advise if you break these rules you can be put out. They insist you must pay a security deposit. We did not have the R 2000 in cash and they took it off the card and then were disgusted when we did not want to give them the cvv number on a piece of paper to refund this - "they have confidentiality practices in place". No company should require this kind of information from guests as there is not a bank in SA that would say this is ok.
The cash option for the security deposit had to be paid before they let you into the room so if you do not have the money with you, you have to go get the money before they even let you in. After a long trip, and paying good money in advance, this is a terrible practice. We checked out early and had to return twice to get our cash back and was made to wait at least 15 minutes for them to check our room to make sure we did not break something.
The manager sits in her office or walks around without making eye contact even when she can hear the guests are not happy. This is tough on the front desk staff as they have to go to her to ask her things when guests are not in earshot. I have never seen someone who is suppose to be customer facing to put all the pressure on her front desk staff.
The sea view is something else. See the photo of the hotel in front of you and although the building is blue, it is certainly not a good sea view.
We moved out to an older hotel, the Courtyard and we were treated completely opposite to how we were in this hotel. Staff actually want to help instead of looking for ways to make your stay difficult.
If you are a smoker, there is no smoking on the balcony and you have to go down to the dark and damp garage to have...
Read moreThe facility is advertised as an apartment. IT IS NOT!!!! It is a smallish room with no vetilation, no aircon, no fan, no cupboard, no desk to work at and all in all VERY akward and uncomfortable. There is no place or space to store my luggage and even the groaning of the lift echoes in the room. As I write one person is showering, one is listening to the radio, one is slamming car doors in the basement and another is using the hairdryer. There are also children running and screaming. The room is cramped and the only window opens to the service shaft, this amplifies all the sounds, making the room a loud and hostile space where you are bombarded with intrusive loud sounds ALL THE TIME. The cupboard is VERY small and a dress can not hang in it. I HATE THIS PLACE AND SEE NO REASON FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO EVEN CONSIDER staying here. It is vastly overpriced and misrepresented. I will never stay here again and I will encourage the booking agency to take it off their books. I can not even see how I am expected to work after this awfull experience. I will rather sleep in my car. The cell phone signal is non existent and the wi-fi SUCKS. Slow and sluggish. The first person the I spoke to at reception was extremely unhelpfull and unfriendly. The second one was better and tried...
