The fee was way too high, even for my 76year old gran who only came in to watch me swim and never touched the water. But my review rating isn't about the daylight robbery, its about the absolute FILTH and GRIME under the water at the bottom of the pool. Yup. Sludged between my toes. It was that thick. It was supposed to be a birthday treat for me and the pool looks clean and clear and sparkling but no, even without my goggles it was filthy, and worse than chip wrappers there was also a tampon in the water. Never going again, I was too disgusted. Worse still, if you think you can clean up at the showers think again! Most taps don't work, there is no hot water, its filthy, and probably 100% contaminated and not worth risking your health. I'm incredibly healthy and I've been spoilt and pampered so my skin is in baby-like condition and ever since the visit to this place I've had two foot skin infections and a UTI my butt didn't even *touch the toilet, okay? and I can't think of anything except the toilet paper that might have been dirty and caused it and I'm telling you I was surprised that there was even toilet paper in the first place even if it was the only half a roll in the entire female...
Read moreIt's shocking the price you pay for what you get. We were 3 adults yesterday (so R420), and the pools were green, with green sludge caked on the tiles, there was nowhere to sit because it was so crowded (they need to limit the number of people allowed in to ensure you at least have a speck of shade and somewhere to sit), people were smoking everywhere in non-smoking sections, the smell of urine was so strong near the entrance and around the pools, the bathrooms were a complete mess, people were getting dressed (with full nudity) in front of children near the pools, someone else washed their bikini WITH SOAP in the salt/seawater pool, and while we were swimming, I found a used plaster and someone's hair braid that had fallen out. Also, the single vending machine on site doesn't work, no alternatives. There was rubbish blowing everywhere in the wind (McDonald's bags, chip packets). It's absolutely ridiculous to pay R140 per person for such a substandard experience. They argued last year the price was because it's expensive to maintain the pools and facilities, and yet it was a disgrace when we went and the pools were murky, green, and smelled bad. You couldn't even see your own hand...

At McArthur’s pool centre you will find lifeguards on duty watching over 3 large swimming pools, a natural sea water bath which gets water from the ocean as the waves crash in over the boundary, a few super tube slides, surrounded by the most beautiful tropical garden, a splash pool, a lovely picnic area with tables, chairs, loafers and umbrellas. A mini kiosk for ice creams and sweets, a small sandpit and jungle gym for the kiddies to enjoy. There are several restaurants to order a take away or a cocktail and a even a surf shop nearby with swimming costumes, sunglasses, and suncream.l and all your water sport gear you may need. It is a lovely day out in the sun and water with the family and friends to make lovely summer holiday memories. I would highly recommend this place be considered if you have a hot day in Madiba Bay. It has spectacular views over the bay in both directions.
