LA KOUZINA — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

What a disappointment! I am not one to ever complain, but...... Our first experience and our last!! My husband and I went last night for dinner to celebrate our 15 year anniversary and we left there feeling very unhappy and disappointment. I cannot belive we paid what we paid for the food we received! We eat out quite often and dont mind spending money on quality food, but I am sorry! The food was disgusting!! Especially the beef snitchel! All my husband could taste was the crunchy batter that turned into a paste after a few chews and the meat was so thin he could not even taste the meat! The Moussaka wasn't great, very mediocre, actually made me feel ill! The quality of the food is not good at all... We also had the prawn and halloumi skewer and the calamari heads for starter, again it was not great. The service was not up to scratch. We were sitting and watching how the waitresses were standing at the bar doing nothing for long, while we were sitting without drinks and had our finished plates on the table (for long). They need to be more awake! One of the drinks we received was wrong! My husband ordered a brandy and coke, when it eventually arrived, he realised after a few sips it was a Spice gold and coke, which he doesn't enjoy! This was one of my favourite restaurants as I usually go with my fiancé but yesterday I was highly disappointed at how we treated, it was so hurtful and I felt like it had to do with race. I reserved a certain table for 3pm for a babyshower, on arrival we were told that a certain group of people had reserved the table for 7pm so we need to be ‘done’ by then. I asked one the elderly men if we were being chased out or are they going to move us to another table? You can imagine reserving a table and them agreeing to being told you had to be out at 7pm? The whole incident was horrible and my pregnant friend and other colleagues were just in shock as I had been recommending the restaurant to them. Anyway they told us we could stay if we wanted to but it was very uncomfortable and upsetting and I felt it was because were a group of ‘Black women’ . Not sure if I’ll be going back because I enjoy their seafood but...

We had a new waitress and while you can look over some things, there are a few basics that were missed. As the manager I would have checked on tables where I had new waitresses. We didn't see her except at the door. Menus left in the table all through the meal. No cutlery initially. They served the one meal with two knives on the plate, no fork. Toppings on the pizza were sparse. The swarm was dry and also had very little meat. Cokes are the mini tins. Fera do and pita bread was good. While the uniforms are very pretty, the shawls are not practical when they dangle over the table when food is being served. We had to asked sy the front for our bill.
