I am very dissatisfied and dissapointed with this store. I went in for 2 specific item which was on sale, a Defy deep freezer and a Ryboi angle grinder. Firstly I went to the appliance department and there was no one around to assist. I was looking for someone to help me for about 5 minutes. I eventually find a guy and he calls another guy which take another 5 minutes to come. Now this guy strolls and he looks like he has been sleeping. Anyway he checks and says there is no stock, so we must take a raincheck. This was dissapointing however we had a good conversation and we didn't mind. Next we went for the Angle grinder, as I get there I see that the picture on the catalogue/paper and the grinder on the shelf don't look nothing alike but it is the same model number. So I was confused. I started to look for someone to assits buy yet again there is no one around. I waited 10 min again for someone to assist. A guy does come to assist but he was just so incompetent and not knowledgeable about the product. I showed him the picture on the page and the Angle grinder on the shelf and he tells me it's the same. I taught this guy was just playing around but he continue to say it's the same thing. My wife don't no much of a Angle grinder but she even made out the difference in it. I had pointed out 3 difference on the item to make him see and understand, so he stood there for awhile looking at the paper and grinder on the shelve like it was a exam, he then tells me he can see it and tells me well this is the one they sent , he does not even bother to find out why this product on the paper is different from the shelve. I was so upset with this guy but I kept my cool, told him thanks and asked him to go. This is unacceptable from a major store. They need to train there staff to be more competent and knowledgeable about the product they sell also be near by to assist customers or just hire competent people which really care for there job and customers. My advise to all shopper is do ur research on the product u want before u go to pick n pay hyper because they either know little or none about the product or better yet shop elsewhere were people...

On Friday 15/9/23 , I phoned several times to connect with someone in the appliance department regarding the Defy fridge I purchased from them. First call , the person is busy with delivery. Second call the person is still not back. Third call , the person is busy with stock take. By this time I demanded to speak to someone regarding my Defy fridge that I bought at PnP Hyper by the Sea Durban in November 2022 and within less than a year have to call out Defy service agent once again. The Defy fridge was tripping my electric mains. Wendy, the appliance department manager , was not a very pleasant person to deal with and had some attitude going there. Rivek of Defy eventually phoned me to take my details to log a service. He assured me he will call me back to give me an update if the Defy service agent will come out on the same day or not . After several hours I called back requesting to speak Rivek the Defy sales agent at PnP and guess what? He refused to take my call. He told the receptionist he doesn't deal with customer complaints and he only does sales.
I have never experienced such pathetic service from Pick n Pay Hyper Sea Durban Appliance department in all the years that I have shopped there.
Charmaine the receptionist who took the call was very helpful , friendly and patient. Also Marlene from the Appliance department who was trying to make up for the poor service I received, made several follow up calls to keep me updated.
I am very disappointed in Wendy the Appliance department manager and Rivek the Defy sales agent at Pick n Pay hyper by the Sea , Durban.

Read moreThe review is about in house Kara Niccha. I am thoroughly disappointed with the quality of food served at kara nicchas. I can accept the staff sullen faces and total lack of social or customer etiquette, the quality of the food has been progressively declining these past 2 years. For example I bought a cabbage curry, a sugar beans curry and a tomato chutney. Most disgusting was the obviously reused previously cooked and frozen potatoes in their curries and the blandness...clearly a cost saving method. As an Indian who knows and eats curries daily...this was and is disgusting and an embarrassment. I'm surprised Pick and Pay continues to accept such low standard products without any quality checks. My samp and beans from the Pick and Pay deli was...deliciously consistent and always absolutely satisfying. On the other hand I'm unsure why the servers and assistant are always glum, inattentive and never a smile to share...probably following through from the store manager. Is this the P and P company ethos. Try some staff training...visit Glenore Spar...you may understand what I'm talking about. This applies to Pick a nd Pay hyper by the sea in Durban North. Ps.
