I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon a new pastry shop in Bilbao that has been causing quite a stir in the culinary circles. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The friendly and kind person who took my order made the experience all the more enjoyable. I saw some different pictures online from what was in the display. Maybe they have different ones weekly?
But let's get to the main attraction, the croissants. I heard that this place was becoming famous for them, and as a fan of the French classic, I had to try them. What I discovered was something truly unique. The fusion of the classic croissant with American gluttony was an interesting twist to the traditional marvel the world has come to know and love.
Sure, the French would probably scoff at this creation, but I have to admit, it was pretty damn delicious. I ordered four, just to try them all, and I have to say, each one was more amazing than the last.
The layers of flaky pastry were almost perfectly crisp, and the fillings were rich and flavorful. I was blown away by the creativity and attention to detail that went into these croissants. And the high chance that they were made with locally sourced ingredients only added to...
Read moreFor all of the food we ate on our trip through Spain, Patxes Bilbao was the absolute best. We tried a filled croissant, a custard tart, a baguette, and a Swiss Danish. Everything we had was delicious, but the filled croissant was over the top. I would recommend anything at this shop. The service is also fantastic, and the owner is lovely. She makes everything herself by hand, (which as a fellow pastry chef who does the same) is no easy feat. If you’re in Bilbao, definitely make a...
