La Bodeguita del 12 — Restaurant in Bilbao

Very disappointing experience with unprofessional staff. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get the chance to try the food. To be fair, the atmosphere was nice and the dishes on other tables looked great. However, our experience was ruined by poor service.

When we arrived, there was some miscommunication. It is understandable, as we’re tourists and don’t speak Spanish. But instead of being patient or helpful, the waiter was rude and even a bit aggressive. He didn’t smile or make any effort to explain how the restaurant works.

We were in a hurry because one of our friends had a flight to catch, and we just wanted to order a quick meal for her. Apparently, the restaurant doesn’t allow food to be ordered for only one person, but instead of explaining this kindly, the waiter made no effort at all to communicate it properly. As a result, our friend had to endure a 6-hour flight with only airport snacks.

The experience could be improved with better customer service. When we arrived, the waiter simply pointed to the digital menu and didn’t return to assist us. Unfortunately, the English version of the digital menu wasn’t working, which made it difficult to understand the options. No he salido como me lo esperaba pero pasable. Nos dejaron cenar sin reserva en una mesita, y hasta ahí bien. Pedimos un arroz de boletus y rabo de toro que ahí fue cuando me hicieron pasar el mal rato. Cuando trajeron el arroz, nos quitaron los platos y cubiertos para cambiarlos, pues con el arroz servido en la mesa, estuvimos 10 minutos sin platos ni cubiertos, tuvimos que levantarnos a pedir por favor que nos trajeran porque se iba a enfriar el arroz y luego no queda igual claro. Trajeron los platos y cubiertos, y al probar el arroz estaba simple no, lo siguiente. No tenía ni un pizca de sal. Le pedí al camarero sal y pan, y sin sorprenderme pasaron otros 10 minutos hasta que se levantó mi acompañante a la zona de cocina a pedir la sal y pan, se la dieron y la trajo él a la mesa, detalle bastante feo, porque se supone que nos tienen que servir…. Ya habían pasado 20 minutos desde que trajeron el arroz y apenas lo habías probado, ya cuando teníamos todo, claro el arroz estaba frío y le pedimos que nos calentara por favor y de mala manera se llevó la paellera. Supongo que era porque había mucha gente, pero si no se va a dar un servicio de calidad… de qué sirve tener el local lleno si atiendes así de mal las mesas? Bastante...
