Update:7/23/2025: Today, the gym was completely dark due to a full power outage, and the entrance door wasn’t working. We waited outside for about 15 minutes, during which a female staff member came and went while staying on the phone, without offering any explanation. Eventually, a man came out from inside and told us we could just enter.
However, around 10 minutes later, they abruptly informed everyone that the facility had to close for security reasons. It ended up being a frustrating waste of time for all of us. Basic-Fit continues to be the most unreliable gym chain I’ve experienced—regardless of the location, there’s always some operational issue. The service is poor, yet they keep raising prices and recruiting more members. Once my contract ends, I’ll definitely switch to a different gym. The cost is far from low, and unfortunately, so is the overall experience.
This is Basic-Fit's newest gym, which just opened on December 2, 2024. It's spacious, and all the equipment is modern and in excellent condition. The shower facilities stand out as better than those at other locations, and hair dryers are available for use.
The main downside is the gym's difficult-to-find location. The directions provided are unclear, and the website description is inaccurate. It took me 15 minutes to locate the entrance. Clearer directions are definitely needed to help people navigate to the gym more easily.
For those looking for guidance, here are step-by-step directions: To enter the gym, use the subway entrance next to the "Monolito a los aviadores del Plus Ultra" sculpture. There's a bus stop sign nearby to help you spot the entrance. Once you go down the stairs, the gym's entrance will be...
Read moreI used to go there when it was a former John Reed. It always has been a great gym experience due to its big functional area and great equipment not to mention the John Reed typical extravagant design.
However today since BasicFit bought it, it became a mess. I went there for two weeks during the morning, lunch time, afternoon and evening and it always was super crowded, to a degree where proper training was not possible anymore.
In addition they offer classes in the already very limited space and always at times where the gym is super crowded anyway. When classes took place in most cases it was not possible to use the functional area. In fact the coaches got super upset with you when you tried to use it.
A lot of equipment is broken, of the fifth ski ergs no one was working anymore.
When addressing the problem to the gym staff they seemed very understandingly but not really interested in finding a solution.
It seems to me that the rapid expansion of basic fit comes at a cost and that they’ve lost the control over their...
Read moreAfter walking and searching for this gym 2,5h (there is no sign, its underground in the metro staircase in a very dark corner) I got informed that this is a better john reed so my platinum john reed card does not grant me access. All good, all great, but this chain comes up with new priocing models for each club like every month. If you travel a lot and rely on a chain to work out, forget john reed, go to a competeror. I pay like 500€ per year for having no access in london, madrid, etc etc. so basically you pay for a chain to get a VERY limited access to very limited number of clubs. Guess customer centicity, transparent pricing structures, consisten setvice is nothing john reed is offering nor cares...
