Tren Cueva de Nerja — Local services in Nerja

Worst attraction in Nerja in my opinion. Please note this is only for the Train service. The cave itself is worth a visit!

Booked the train, cave and museum tickets for £21 each at the museum, pickup at 12:00 was written on our ticket. Walked down to the pick up point and the train was already there and full at 11:45. The staff were rude and unapologetic. To be clear they simply sell as many tickets as possible, regardless of actual space on the train.

We had to wait a full hour with several other annoyed customers. You cannot leave or you will lose your spot for the next train. And even when this train comes, you must rush past the unaware newcomers before the train fills.

The actual journey is fine, like a bus with no suspension or seatbelts. No stop at Maro, no stop at Musuem, no guide or audio as some reviews suggested.

On the way back we started queueing 20 minutes before the train arrives (3:10pm, train to arrive at 3:30pm). The driver then decides to take his lunch and says next journey at 5:00pm. Another 1.5 hour wait. Now enjoy an hour or so arguing with other annoyed visitors trying to get a taxi.

Honestly such a scam, they are obviously used to annoyed and abandoned customers and so will have no sympathy for you. Please do yourself a favour and just book...

Really impressed! We booked the combined train and caves ticket. Made our way for the first train (10am) and the coordinator suggested we stayed in the shade before boarding the train as it was so hot. When it was time to board so made sure we were let on in order as it has become busy by then. It was a lovely ride, lovely breeze even in the intense heat! Lots of great views.

On the way back, we did only just make it on as they were really busy but again the driver was very good at ensuring people got on in fair order and squeezed as many on as was allowed before helping a handful of people who couldn't fit on...

We used the train to get to the caves. We waited 35 minutes to get the train there. Then waited 30 minutes for the train to get back to Nerja - but the train was full and we were going to have to wait another hour in the sun. Awful experience and gave up and got an Uber back. Increase your capacity for the trains or have a constant service! Put on a minibus when it's busy and save us from a long wait in the heat! Kids waiting for 90 minutes in the...
