Mercadona — Local services in Salou

Decent large size in town supermarket with a cheap (1€/hour) underground car park.

Pretty much most things you would expect (including baby food and nappies, but different formulas to the UK), at cheaper prices than you will find at the beach side 'supermarkets', and the UK for that matter - a 2L bottle of Coke for less than a £1, 6-pack of San Miguel for £1.75 and so on.

There are also some nods to the Brits abroad, with some Cadbury's and Heinz products (baked beans anybody) and Cheddar cheese, as well as baked on the premises baguettes, breads and pastries.

Well worth the trip, especially if staying in Salou as it's the easiest large...

ENG: "Mercadona" always an excellent supermarket chain and with very convenient prices equal or better with "Día", "Masymas", "Lidl", "Aldi" and "Consum". Parking next to the supermarket (1 hour free then paid with automatic machine that works with coins or debit cards) with Lift (for people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs) and entrance not far from the parking lot all on street level. The only criticism is that the goods are sometimes positioned in a somewhat confusing way not always intuitive and then being located in the city center both the parking lot and the supermarket are small. SPA: "Mercadona" siempre una excelente cadena de supermercados y con precios muy asequibles a la par o mejor de "Día", "Masymas", "Lidl", "Aldi" y "Consum". Aparcamiento al lado del supermercado (1 hora gratuita y luego de pago con máquina automática que funciona con monedas o tarjetas de débito) con ascensor (para personas con movilidad reducida o en silla de ruedas) y entrada no lejos del aparcamiento, todo a nivel de calle. La única crítica es que los productos a veces están colocados de forma un poco confusa, lo que no siempre es fácil de entender y además, al estar situados en el centro de la ciudad, tanto el aparcamiento como el supermercado son pequeños. The reception staff very helpful and friendly Lucas/Anna/Petra. Bar staff also very friendly Julian.

However the Maitre D for dining was quite unpleasant. We were accosted several times for daring to take the salt and pepper which was allocated next to the condiment. The food was constantly recycled from the day before and left us with stomach aches. Location perfect and accessible . Local bus services were great and relatively cheap. Taxi's however are expensive and you cannot get Uber taxi's in Salou. I would recommend room only for this hotel as the food and Maitre D really brought the overall...
