The Codfather Playa Blanca — Local services in Yaiza

Whilst away in Playa Blanca back in June/July, we fancied something different other than the usual restaurants on the promenade in town. So we saw recommendations on Facebook etc. to try and safe to say that we were not disappointed in the slightest!

Literally was one of, if not the best fish and chips we've ever had in the UK and abroad. Damien was such a great guy who came and seated us down as we had a push chair, took our order quickly and the young girls helping out was lovely to see a family orientated business that served top food to accompany top levels of service.

References to Hugh Jackman on here aren't wrong when describing Damien, aren't wrong as I couldn't pin point it myself at the time but it was clearer after we had left.

Overall, you simply HAVE to come here and try the food because you won't leave disappointed in the slightest people. Value for money and location is so easy as well.

The Cod Father, haha, don't make me laugh, far from the farther of cooking cod. Now I've worked in and been the cook in a few chipshops in my time, and this is easily the worst chip shop I have ever had to experience. The chips were undercooked and hard. The battered sausages had a horrible sweet taste and were watery. Onionrings were cooked okay till they were left to acrew burnt patches on from them being left on a hot plate before serving. I think the best part about my meal was the bread and butter I ordered alongside it.

Now, not only was the food disgusting, the waiting times were also disgusting. I must have been stood there between 20 and 30 mins, waiting for my food.

Would not recommend it at all, stay far away. And save yourself for a chippy tea when you're back on home soil so you're not...

I'm coeliac and hadn't had fish and chips for years so was so happy to find this place & to discover that they cater for gluten free & have a designated fryer & a lot of the condiments are gluten free too. Honestly had the best meal in ages, certainly took me back down memory lane! Really friendly people, checked on the food and if we were satisfied whilst we were eating it & were quick to clean the tables once people had vacated them with hygiene spray.
