Barney´s — Restaurant in Yaiza

Regarding this review. We only visited Barneys after 9.30pm when the live music had started, no other times during the day. Barneys bar is a awesome bar to visit for live music. We visited on 3 nights during our holiday. All 3 times we visited were on nights Barney was playing with a guest musician, we didn’t bother visiting if barney was having a night off. Barney is very talented. He changes between instruments (acoustic guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, etc), so plays a massive variety of music & songs. Depending who was the guest musician changed the type of music played, so no 2 nights were the same. So we happily returned 3 nights. On the 3 nights we saw Camy, she was very talented bass guitar player. Dan, a very talented guitarist. Then Alex, who played some songs with a violin, some with a mandolin. Every night was different but very entertaining. The venue is great, a very small bar that probably only holds about 90 people. Which gave a very intimate feel. If you stay in Playa Blanca, we’d strongly recommend you visit Barneys for a couple of hours after 9.30pm (ideally on a night Barney & a guest are playing, because we can’t comment about other nights) to chill out, have a drink & just...

Went here on a Tuesday night in November 23. Staff were great and attentive and it's a nice place.

The entertainment however, was something else - "Camy and Israel". They are both annoyingly good looking and it gets even worse when they start playing. I really wanted to hate them entirely based on jealousy (I'm a mediocre guitarist) but they are both incredibly likeable and they appear to be having a great time, which is infectious. They do a few of the staples that many cover bands do but also some oddball choices as well as alternative versions of songs such as a piano version of guns n roses and mashups.

I've been to the canaries a lot and spent a lot of time watching covers bands in pubs, usually playing cards if with my wife or on my phone if by myself. These two were worth paying attention to.

I don't think I've ever sat and watched an act in a pub on holiday and looked them up to see if they're playing again...

I ended up spending almost every evening at Barney's (which I don't usually do on holiday!). The drinks are delicious (and generous measures in the cocktails and sangria).
