We were really excited to take the kids and my friends who were visiting from the US to try shrimping! We all enjoy fishing and this was going to be a highlight of their trip.

First off, it’s quite a distance from the MRT stations so I would suggest taking the bus or Uber. It’s behind some car dealers in a small alley so beware.

Inside they have tables, a grilling area, semi-clean bathrooms, and drinks you can purchase.

When we got there, there was an adorable doggy to greet us. The lady at the desk helped explain things to us and we got 3 poles for an hour. We were given tiny shrimp bait and started. I think where you are seated is really important because during the hour, the lady comes and dumps some shrimp in (which makes me think usually there are no shrimp in the tanks). The other customers that were not right at the front of the tank never caught anything the entire time we were there. The only 2 guys that caught shrimp were the ones sitting right where she dumped live shrimp. Some locals probably felt bad for us and gave us some tips we didn’t catch a thing and our entire party left disappointed. We mentioned it when we returned the poles but the lady could not care less.

Bummed about our experience. We will go visit other shrimping spots and hopefully find a better place. I would definitely not...

Disappointing, dumpy experience here, but my relatives liked it, so I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. This hole in the wall is about a 20-minute walk north of one of the orange line (temple) MRT stations, where you will be inhaling tons of pollution fumes as you look for this place. It's hidden in an alley between car sales businesses. The older photos on google do not accurately depict what this place looks like now. It reminded me of old Taiwan in the 1970s with the run down, grimy environment and smelly bathroom (at least toilet paper was provided, and there was a regular toilet in addition to a squat toilet). 550NT for an hour was steep, considering nothing was even caught. There's a nice selection of beer and canned drinks at a reasonable price, and the lady working at the counter was nice- that was the positive. Otherwise, I didn't think this trek was worth it, and I guess I like the finer things in life, instead of paying to sit around a grungy place for so much money and effort to get there. First of all, there’s a lot of mix reviews about this place from other customers, but I come here every week.. I personally think it’s a good shrimping place in Taipei. One of the few that’s in Taipei. For fisherman’s, you’ll have your good days and your bad days. So it is what it is don’t complain about it. If you’re new to shrimping there is no guarantee you will catch shrimp on your first try! Ask the employee’s there for some tips or some locals sitting next to you. Shrimping takes a bit of experience and there are techniques to it. You’ll have to search for shrimps if they’re not biting in one area. Takes some practice to it.. most of all, you’re there for a good and relaxing time. Just have fun! On Saturday’s after 7pm they’ll have a little event where they tag the shrimps with different color tags and you’ll have some chance of winning some...
