"So yesterday a friend and I went to AER Lounge next to House of Hope, for lunch. We walked down the steps to the right and walked toward a table next to 2 Chinese men. While approaching, one of them stood and stared at us intently as though in disbelief. We kept moving. While trying to get seated, he shouted some Mandarin Chinese at us (this is an assumption because I don't understand Mandarin anyway so if he were speaking something else, I wouldn't know). He looked angry. We didn't understand why he kept looking at us. So we simply sat down. We thought perhaps he assumed we worked there (because we are black) and needed a fork or something. We sat and paid him no more attention. He kept standing at the next table, looking at us. A few minutes later, a black waitress appeared with a menu. She smiled at us and requested that we go to sit on the left side of the restaurant. We asked why. "This side is for Chinese only. The blacks and Indians sit on the other side. "We couldn't believe our ears. My friend asked, "So you guys are racist?" "I'm sorry but that's just the way it is, here,"she responded. Not wanting to waste our time, we moved but stayed in shock. That's the last time I go there. It's 2019 people, this shouldn't be happening here, or anywhere else in the world!!!!!"...

The layout is 3 terraces with a lot of trees. The trees make it an ideal place to hangout on a hot Kampala afternoon. The place is huge and pretty cool because of the different seating areas. They have raised cabana style floor sitting areas, dining table areas and a rustic wooden sitting area on the bottom terrace. The toilets are disappointing. The parking inside is small but there is a reasonable parking space outside. We had a group party and we were allowed to do our own decor. The seating areas allow for privacy because of the sheer curtains that can be drawn when needed. We had the chicken lollipops, spring rolls and goat meat with salad which was great. Their portions are on the smaller side. The food prices are average. I would go back for the relaxed...

Are has very good cuisines. Its spacious and really beautiful at night, the way they played with the lighting worthwhile. There is a club for someone who would be interested in a loud music place and another quiet bar section with a lovely pool table that is quite different from the usual.
