Incredibly disappointing. Went to the counter to order. The person stood behind the counter unit and spoke to me, I never saw her face until the food was plated up, which i thought was unfriendly and very strange. I wanted to sit in so when the food was ready, I had to ask them to put it on a plate instead of wrapped to go. I asked for a battered cod and pastie. The pastie was nice as expected hence the 2 stars. The fish was not cod and I've no idea what it was. There was hardly any fish and the batter was burnt and inedible at the ends - as seen in the pictures. It had been overcooked. Incredibly disappointed as I had been looking forward to a wee fish and pastie all week. Loved going to Beatties on the Shankill as a kid, it was a real treat and the service was always great. Not sure if this Beatties is related to the Shankill one but the whole experience was a real let down and I won't be back. The place was packed (which I donât blame the place for) the fish was so bland I could taste my own mouth better than it and the chips were dry and overcooked, they were as hard as a brick half of the time. Not to mention that the entire meal was under seasoned with salt and vinegar, is there a tax on each grain of salt and squirt of vinegar now? I used to love coming here, sitting in, getting a huge fish and deliciously crunchy chips, but now- itâs some tourist trap with extortionate prices. When I went in I thought I was in rural Texas with all the great big fat people. Maybe there would be room if they went somewhere with edible food. Come on Beaties, up your game. Make me and your customers love your food again and for heavens sake add more salt...
   Read moreNot good they dont want customers in the place the block the tables with Beatties outside flags at 18.20 to stop you sitting in I had to raise my voice and threaten l would contact the senior management to get a table and plate at a18.25 order time. Clearing up was worth watching after telling a couple they are closing at 18.31 they cleared all the hot fish from the top of the frier straight into the fridges with out allowing them to cool properly not a safe practice the dident care they just wanted to go home. And we don't care about you! That's not the Traditional Beatties l remember there...
