Selbys Traditional Fish & Chips — Local services in Belfast

Although they cater to a rough crowd (the lower Falls rd) the staff seem irritated, even angry not sometimes, ALL the time. They take very very long to prepare the food. When orders are made on the phone for a collection the order is only put on when you arrive, so phoning in an order becomes obselete and a waste of time. 5-6 months ago on a Friday afternoon I ordered a fish, and my butter knife was wider than the fish and I was charged full price for it. I would've sent it back but as previously mentioned they are very angry and unapproachable. Years ago the name Raffo's actually meant something. Before it became Selby's they were dragging the Raffo's brand into the mud. PS: I saved the photo of my fish and butter knife if anyone wants to dispute this. Food is not bad, standard chippy fare but nothing to make it stand out from the crowd. Service is fine, although one time I placed an order and after waiting about half an hour and watching people who came in after me, get their food before me, I realized they'd forgot about my order. Considering there were only three others in the place, I was a bit disappointed by this. The guy making the food should maybe not be taking the orders while there are servers present.

The portions are a bit varied too, one time I got a big bag of chips with my supper, next time it was all in a box and seemed like less chips.

Have to say they hit the nail in the head by gettin every single thing wrong which is pretty impressive. 2 hours 15 mins for freezing cold chicken dryer than a nuns knickers and chips so hard you cud throw them at the Peelers. When I say dry I mean I needed a drink between every single bite, the refreshing large bottle of Coca-Cola I paid for would have been sufficient to quench the near dead in the Sahara thirst the chicken was giving me however I was given a small bottle which ironically enough was warmer than my desert roasted chicken box.
