The Fun Centre — Local services in Caernarfon

It was wet so everyone came here. The problem was that they didn't get turned away, so we, the parents, were packed in to a tiny little alcove. Why I have a problem with this? Because I had to pay £2 for the privilege, and so did my wife. I've never been charged to get in to a play gym in my life.

So on to the basic health and safety violations I saw whilst I was there:

Hot drinks are served in china cups. Fine you would think except that there is nowhere to sit when you're packed in like sardines, and kids are running around and bumping in to you. I was amazed nobody dumped scalding hot coffee on a kid's head.

The "Go karts" were unmanned. We got on one and set off only to find it was plugged in charging, so the cable was ripped out of the wall.

As previously mentioned, it was too crammed to find anywhere to sit while we were there, but there was a queue out of the door when we were leaving. I would hate to see how many would end up dead in case of a fire, surely there's regulations on the number of people allowed in one part of the building, but I'm sure the owners get around this by having 2 floors that were not being used by anyone (laser tag and go karts).

Not at all impressed, I got my kids out of there as soon as I could, which was funnily easy, the kids weren't bothered about leaving at all. I wish I'd not bothered with the hour drive and...

Not safe for toddlers. I thought this place was dangerous and an accident waiting to happen.

The staff members do not supervise any play areas. Staff are only serving food and at the entrance. So, you're depending on other parents to keep their kids under control, and when we were there lots of older kids were running wild unsupervised.

There is one long corridor of soft play for toddlers which might be good on a weekday during term time when no older kids are about, but it's dangerous on a weekend when it gets overrun by older children who shouldn't be there.

In the toddler area, older kids were climbing on the roof of the Wendy house. I didn't want my toddler to go inside it in case the roof collapsed under the weight of the kids on the roof.

In the soft play, my husband had to follow our 2 year old around inside to keep her safe, and I had to shout at and stop older children hitting each other in the middle of the toddler area. Older kids were flinging themselves about, throwing things at each other, and completely oblivious to the babies around them. They could have hurt someone.

I've been to this place since I was little up until about three years ago for a youth club outing. I must admit, every time I went it has always been a blast. For the kids the play area is just something different, it's not dangerous but the gives an impressive illusion of it which excites most kids. especially those ungodly steep slides. I'm not exaggerating, this place has the steepest slides I've ever seen. There are slides that are not as nerve rackingly steep but there are two really steep slides that are actually quite fun & feel daring to go on even though I'm still scared of going down them to this day. ​ ​For older people I'd recommend looking around at the building. The architecture is beautiful & for an old church with what is essentially a jungle gym stuffed in it there's a surprising number of hidden gems. The gate separating the play area from the sitting area is lovely wrought iron fence; There's a pedestal that originally was there when it was a church. It's really great for photos I found & a nice shield on the arch above the seating section. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but worth a look...
