Staff were pleasant and tentative during my visit here. So before I begin it is worth pointing out that this place does not serve alcohol and by the looks of previous reviews, not served them for some time but you can bring your own. Served by a young lady and rather order my usual safe meal I asked her if she could recommend the mains for me but emphasised that I do like not overly hot spicy meal, like a vindaloo, I was duly corrected that spice and heat were two different things which is right....silly me. She recommended Kalta Lamb but would ask the chef to make it slightly spicy...sorry hot for me, great. I also ordered King Prawn Butterfly and some poppadoms with pickle tray, Chilli Naan and egg fried rice. The poppadoms were well poppadoms what can you say, the dips were a nice array of dips with different tastes but would loved it if it included spicy onions. So after a light starter, my starter starter were the Butterfly King Prawns coated in breadcrumb with a sprinkle of Coriander leaves and garnished with lettuce tomato and cucumber (and a wedge of lemon). Come on what's with the garnish...sooo old fashioned. Ok I was hoping the KP coatings had some spice through it, but no. Thank goodness I still had the dips. On their own they taste like any ordinary fried KP. they were juicy and tasty enough but could had added spice to it or an India spice dip!!! Main course the Kalta Lamb, a very tasty dish. So since I have never had this meal before I cannot really compare it to anything I have had before but it was very good. The lamb meat pulled apart so easily and tasted fantastic-melting in my mouth. The sauce, in my opinion, reminded me of rich gravy with onions through it. Personally I thought it lacked spice and heat (even though she later confirmed she had asked the chef to add heat into it). I used some of the chilli in the naan bread to add some heat. The naan bread was good, nice fluffy and gorgeous to chew. I also ordered a portion of egg fried rice, possibly one of best egg fried rice I've had in an Indian. So negative points....Men - don't go to the toilet before having your meal. The place looks like a pub conversion judging the looks of the urinal. It still has the appearance and odour and looking at the wall, as its what I'm staring at at the time (lol), I see traces of dried blood...remains of a bar fight? The lower walls had chunks in it which could had been repainted during the restrictions. Anyway its all about the food and staff which is all good. I would come back but maybe avoid the toilets.

Was out and about in the area and fancied a nice curry, we searched up and found this place and decided to give it a go, and we were so glad we did. There was 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meal very much. Some places I have been before can be very oily ,but I must say this indian was spot on, not overly oily and full of flavour and freshness. The meat in my curry was perfectly tender and everything was spot on. Very very good quality food, good service and clean and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend taking a visit, there is paid parking nearby and a note to remember is that you can take your own alcohol as they do not serve this. Only con I would say is that they charge on the menu for tap water £1, I think this is unreasonable and should be provided free of charge to paying customers.

I enjoyed my outing to the highly rated Caernarfon Tandoori restaurant. It was jam packed on the last evening of 'Eat out to help out' and rightly so. It's a pleasant place with smart decor and clean facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The menu seems good although a few more vegetarian Chef's recommendations would be a good idea. My food was very tasty, albeit a little too salty. The other dishes were good and the Naan bread excellent. There are three Indian/Bangladesh/Curry restaurants in Caernarfon I visit and all of them are definitely worth a visit. The unlicensed ones are great if you prefer your own choice of alcohol and it keeps the cost down too. Recommended 👍

I am very happy to update my review.

After a year or two since our last visit, im happy to report a big improvement.

We went 2 mins after opening, so it lacked an atmosphere, but that's what happens at 5pm.

It did get busier within an hour, and from what i could see, all food was coming out in reasonable times!

The lady who greeted us was very polite and welcoming. The waiters were very attentive and helpful, Fahim, our waiter was lovely, he made a friend for life in our daughter whos only 2 who was disappointed whenever he left.

The food all came when it should and was hot!

A few years ago, the food was oily and disappointing, but this time, it was fantastic.

Chef still likes his corriander, but that doesn't ruin the food.

It doesn't have a license to serve booze, but you can take your own, which is nice. Stops you drinking too much!

Be handy to have a customer fridge to store your beer!

All in all, we had 2 courses, which more than filled us, so we took the rest home.

Definitely give the...

My family and I enjoyed our first meal at The Caernarfon Tandoori Restaurant after reading an article in the Daily Post that said that this restaurant had been named Indian Restaurant of the Year for Wales.

The food was delicious with really amazing flavours, fresh ingredients and spices and a taste sensation that is absolutely perfect. The food is full of epic flavours, absolute perfection. The staff are welcoming, efficient, friendly and professional. My family and I all really appreciate the fantastic service that The Caernarfon Tandoori Restaurant provide, it was a pleasure to dine at such a fantastic restaurant that has a wonderful menu with an excellent selection of food to choose from. We really liked the cool, stylish interior in the restaurant that was beautifully designed and very comfortable.
